HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The people's champion. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Look, to all the Beano Cooks out there, who think the Big 12 championship is really the national one, find some dignity and quick acting like idiots. Al Gore is not president. He's never going to be president, and the winner of the Red River Shootout does not get to take home the Sears trophy. I want to see AFL's new wacky poll, where all the Beanos make their lists about how good Georgia is or how Carson Palmer took take OSU if they played on the fourth vortex of Saturn in July. Quit it. Ohio State won. They played 14 games, and they won all 14. National Champions. All you Beano Cooks out there can't change that. No matter how dumb you sound.
isn't it the Circuit City trophy now? at least, that's what it said, IIRC. Or is it still Sears in some circles?
GringoTex makes a completely ridiculous statement. A few days ago people was ready to call this Miami team one of the greatest teams in history. Ohio State stood toe-to-toe with them and won the game. How can you say that they're the "worst" champion? If a team has a great offense and a merely adequate defense, people are quick to give them praise. If you have a great defense, and a merely adequate offense, people want to say you're lucky or you win ugly and not give you credit. History will show that Ohio State's defensive line is one of the greatest in the history of the game. Add an All-American linebacker and two great safeties, and you have a defense that can stand with any in the history of the game. 54 Tim Anderson DT 6-4 289 Jr. Clyde, OH 75 Simon Fraser DE 6-6 250 So. Upper Arlington, OH 97 Kenny Peterson DT 6-4 265 Sr. Canton, OH 56 Darrion Scott DE 6-3 271 Jr. Charleston, WV 93 Will Smith DE 6-4 250 Jr. Utica, NY 95 David Thompson DT 6-5 290 Sr. Paterson, NJ
As an avid OSU doubter, I say congrats to them. That defense is awesome. Better than even I expected. Truth is though that Pass Interference call was horrible. If it goes the other way there wouldn't be quite as much BIG ten is the best talk going around here. Regardless, they won. Thats all that matters. I think people were overhyping Miami all year. Are they a good team? Yes. Are they a great team? Probably. Are they as good as everyone was hyping them? Probably not. It's because of this hype, and the pass interference call that OSU doesn't get the respect that it truly deserves for winning the game.
Remember the '98 World Cup, when Esse Baharmast called a penalty in a Brazil first-round match? And everyone thought it was a mystery penalty? And it turned out he was right? Well, this was the right call. I know nobody will believe me because I'm a Buckeye alumnus and fan, but if I just had a copy of the original broadcast angle, I could freeze-frame to show the hold. It was there. The best angle would be one from the far side of the field, or perhaps from the back corner where the flag came from. Agreed. Frankly, I'm miffed that everyone is focusing on this OT call while completely glossing over the fact that OSU failed to pick up a first down on their last offensive play in regulation because of a blown defensive holding call involving the same two players. And, to top it off, Gamble actually made the catch, but it was ruled incomplete. There were a multitude of blown calls in the game, and most of the key ones benefitted Miami. So why no respect for the Buckeyes?
Clap,clap,clap,clap... Speak the truth brother. People who focus on that call, which was the right call, need to quit chewing on sour grapes.
we were childhood friends. i went to school with him from 2nd grade on. i taught this kid how to rollerblade (and if youve never seen anyone whose 6-3 and a freshman in hs trying to do "aggressive skating" then its a ************ing riot)
jim tressel said if the ohio state team went undefeated he would get corn rows as per the request of his team...we'll mission has been accomplished... he will be growing his hair out the next month and then be getting them... just a little photoshop work to give ya an idea of what he'll be sporting...
