Do you want to mention Ole or are you waiting until his first game back?

    Ole never went anywhere :)

Although having him back would be like a new signing.

I know technically it should not be considered an IN, but having a fit Ruud has got to count for something too. ;)

About a month or two ago, they said he was to re-sign within the next few days, but I haven't heard anything since.

I heard he will be signing once the team returns from Asia, but then never confirmed he has signed.

Agree but I think his chances of getting those first team games are much higher at West Ham than at Old Trafford. Read on their board that they are thinking of playing him out right. He never has really impressed out there for us. I am wondering if this move might not be the beginning of the end for Bellion at Manchester.

Note that Kleberson was sold for £2.5m

Did United make any money from any of the other players leaving?

Looks like we've barely spent more than we've received in the transfer kitty this year.

If so, aren't we seeing move movement on a central midfielder? Is the Rooney buy last summer still affecting our buying this year?

When someone resigns, doesn't that usually mean he's quitting?! :)

I'm resigned to the fact that periodically I'm going to open this thread to look at the latest post and it's going to be yet another poster that pretends not to recognize that DS meant re-sign and not resign.

I think United are going to get a new central mid. As far as I can tell, United have paid a total of £1m for our transfers this year, they have sold DJ, Klebs and Neville, and Glazer promised to appease the supporters with £30m in transfer money. I don't know why Glazer would all of a sudden try to become fiscally responsible by going back on that promise.

Furthermore, Sir Alex has always had arguably the best central mid in the league. He likes to build his teams around a dominant central mid. With Essein going to Chelsea, I'm still holding out hope for Ballack, although this may well be a pipe dream.

I'm not pretending not to recognize what DS meant. From the tone of my post, it's clear that I do know what DS really meant; I'm just pointing out his error to him.

If I ever make any grammatical or typographical errors, or say anything that's unclear, please don't hesitate to alert me to the fact, as we can all benefit from being better communicators. Thank you.

Because a promise to Gl*zer means absolutely, positively nothing. He'll say whatever he can to appease the fans temporarily, and in this case it involved saying that there would be £25m to spend every summer on transfers. It's not the first time he's flat out lied like that, and it won't be the last.

That said, I'm still holding out hope on our slim chances of getting Ballack. There just hasn't been much indication other than random rumors.

No offence take. The little things are easy to overlook. I hate proof-reading my posts - unless in an arguement with a pedant. Most times I just hit 'post' as we all friends here :D :D :)

It's hard to believe we'd only spend 1 million pounds net on transfers, sell two central midfielders, and not buy another one when just about everyone says it's our biggest need, or at least an area of the pitch where we can improve significantly if we spend some cash.

Why spend money to buy a midfielder, if he's not the one you need. Utd. have a number of midfield options, but want a top class player, like a Ballack or Essien. Why waste the money if you're not getting what you need?
