That's crap. Besides this recent article, Drogba has been anything but selfish. I could think of multiple interviews where he puts Chelsea above all. He is just frustrated with the way Jose has him playing, but he is not selfish by any means. He sacrifices his body constantly. Also, keep in mind how unhealthy he was last season. All the frustration builds up and every one occasionally needs to blow some of it off. I don't care how much money we spend on him, he is a solid forward.

Maybe it's the reading the takes from the interview vs. hearing it live. Can change the context of what's being said, but but to be saying that he made others look better........well, he was hurt enough for that to not be a factor as the players that he's claiming to have improved were terrific even when he wasn't in the game. I'm not saying he's not a terrific forward, but whining makes him look bad.

I'd love to have Drogba in the Toon. Instead of that shitebag Anelka, who Souness wants to sign.

Drogba's a quality player. I've ever seen him player in Marseille and Guingamp(?). When he came to chelsea he scored 18 goals which i echo is not bad. He could have scored alot more though. But a not to great season for him doesn't mean that he won't get better. IN 2004/05 Ferguson had a bad season with ManUre winning nothing, but does that mean that he's a bad manager.

Even if Drogba's never a 20 goal striker, does he really NEED to be to be considered a good player? Sure, he's only worth about half of what Chelsea paid for him. But the same can be said for Ferreira, Carvalho...pretty much every player Mourinho has purchased has been a bit of a rip-off.

Drogba is arguably the best in the EPL at holding the ball up, probably 2nd best finisher in the air (after Morientes), and he's got pace and some decent feet as well. He'll never be as clinical a finisher as Henry or Van Nistelrooy but you couldn't have possibly expected him to be.

For anyone that didn't know, Drogba was actually playing amateur football just 5 years ago. He's only been a full-time pro for a few years. He's a late bloomer, a hard worker but not understandably not as gifted as a lot of other strikers.

Agree with the above post. Also, to those who think Drogba is useless, ask the Bayern Munich defence what they thought of him. He is certainly not the most polished, but Oliver Kahn called him the best header of the ball he has ever seen, and his physical presence is nearly unmatched by most modern strikers. It is kind of funny, though, that he said he modelled himself after Thierry Henry.:D

Yes I agree with you, but mourinho wasn't ripped off, Ferreira, Tiago, carvalho weren't useless. However when Clubs want to sell players to chelsea they often take advantage of it and get more money than they should get, Drogba, even Carvalho, anyone? but Robben is an exception he was a real baragain.

Carvalho was a bargain. Real Madrid paid 25M euros for Walter Samuel, and Manchester paid 40M euros for Rio Ferdinand. Carvalho cost 30M euros with proven credits in champions league and euro2004. Think about this.

Drogba isn't useless but there is absolutely no way in the world he was ever worth £24.

If Chelsea continue with just one main striker, it should be Crespo, but Drogba's a good one to have in your squad.

I don't know where some people get off saying that Drogba is not a skillful or a polished player. He is a very skillful player on the ball and I can see why he models himself after Henry. If you saw the player at Marseille or Guingamp..you would know exactly why i'm saying this. I think it's utter nonsense to judge a player based on a rough first season for a club. Drogba is a world class striker...end of story.

I'm thinking that CFC overpiad for him but I'm willing to wait this year out before declaring dogbra totally useless.

I would imagine he'll get significant starts, although, whether he'll start every game whilst uninjured is extremely doubtful.

    A bargain someone said?
    Hardly.

    Money well spent?
    Without a doubt.

I want to revise my answer to reflect this wisdom! :)

I think that's my problem. The cheap-skate in me wants to think that anything that isn't a bargain was an opportunity lost for "bargainism" ro some crap like that. Most strikers in the prem last year would've been happy to put up the numbers dogbra did. He may have not come cheaply but that's not Chelsea's priority.

You dont get a world class central defender cheaper and willing to move to your club. And look at the examples of the 25 M for Samuel and 40 for Ferdinand.

Campbell and Terry cost nothing. ;)

Also Gallas and Andrande were a fraction of the price.

Hmm Andrade cost 15M, dunno about gallas. Campbell, and specially Terry, weren't big names before their transfer.

    Research people research.

I was taking the mick with Campbell and Terry, Campbell was a free and Terry a youth but Campbell was already a known name.

    p.s Do you still think 19m for a non-guaranteed starter is a bargain. ;)
