    That is nauseating.

Will the metros have a little prayer huddle before the game?

Well, playing Columbus, at least god will be on our side.

Onward Christian Metros, marching as to whores

    Re: Metro Bible Party

"These days it's important to recognize the American family and the faith that holds it together," said MetroStars President and General Manager Alexi Lalas. "This is an opportunity to celebrate that faith with family and friends while enjoying a wonderful night out at Giants Stadium."

I don't know about anyone else but as I read those lines I just keep getting "buy tickets, buy tickets, buy tickets!!!"

Metros marketing team has stooped to another degrading low. What's next, receive holy communion at half time night? Please. This is just pathetic already. This is the worste marketed team in MLS and this is just another example of why. I can just see the posts now if we lose that game. "God not on Metros side after all." Ridiculous. Every person in Metros marketing team should be fired and start over from scratch. Pathetic.

This sounds fine to me. All the activities are confined to one area and are pre- and post- game, not in- game, so no one who doesn't want to pray won't be forced to. Personally, as a man married to a persuasive feminist, I find the MetroGirls considerably more offensive than a pre-game concert.

Personally I love it! We used to do this in Tampa and would have some of our largest crowds for these events. Don't knock the music until you hear it.

I suppose the Metro front office views 73,000 empty seats as being worse.

NY Mets are the ultimated ethnic whores in the area.

Perhaps with all the Born agains in the stadium that night, the yellow coats won't be there since as state employees this would be a violation of seperation of church and state.

Something like this would actually work very very well in most MLS cities.

Just not in Jersey IMO. Well, maybe if they dredge South Jersey But I could be wrong. After the 2004 debacle (from my viewpoint) of an election, I will never misunderestimate the numbers or organizational skills of Christians who wear their faith on their sleeve ever again. I wonder what the arbirton numbers are for this station.

plus during the game you can rip up the pages into little pieces and use it as confetti. It'll be like a boca jrs game. (jk)

this article is twilight zone type of schit, wtf is happening here?

I say we should have a convict night where we fill up the stadium with the boys from riker's and rahway. NJSEA should also drop the price of beer from 7 to 1.50 that night and not even think about shutting the booths down until the 88th minute. Soccer mom THIS!

the more i think about it...the more offensive i find this.

if i wanted to be promoted by my faith, i'd go to whatever religious cathedral that welcomes me, be it a church, synogogue or whatnot.

this has absolutely no place in a public venue.

The lesson I'm taking from this is that these are one-time only crowds. Not the best kind of crowd to try to attract, really.

    Re: Metro Bible Party

Thats kind of the point I had in mind as well.

I have no beef at all with Metro trying to appeal to any group whether it be religous or ethnic or whatever. But what i do have a beef with is the manner in which our marketing arm goes about it.

Instead of doing a one-off promo with hopes of "converting" people into loyal fans (which has a sucsess rate that is barely worth mentioning), they should focus their marketing efforts on long term relationship building and branding with those groups. Instead of having a one off "day" like this or Hispanic Heritage Day...which many hispanics find insulting...they should focus their marketing campain on showing these groups that the organization is actaully committed to these groups long term, not just this weekend.

Metro is reling on a marketing staregy from AEG that isn't sucsessful when transfered over to this sport. At AEG they are in the business of promoting an event not a brand. It shows in the way they approach marketing.

I swear this club could be huge...but they neglect the potential fan base here so blindly it should be criminal.
