Like i said before. If they play like crap against MLS teams and get burned, they are def. capible of playing super power italian teams.

Yeah, AP match summaries are as a rule pretty useless. Usually they provide the blandest description a game imaginable.

This why these "meaningless" friendlies are so important for MLS. For a meaningless game it gets glowing write ups in Europe. In the US press, it's just "who cares, Milan hammered the Fire right? Here's the scoreline."

Craig Hodges shot over 50% career from beyond 3pts., but couldn't hit the broad side of a barn inside the arc.

Yes I caught that too. Should have read, "Fire Hammer Milan, but Come up Short"

That AP writer doesn't know his Dick from a custard filled Long John!

Chicago Fire played a fantastic match. With better finishing the headlines around the world would have been much different this morning. Congrats to them, and to the great fans in Section 8 for representing MLS so well.

I agree with you all...the headlines are total crap! I watched the game and A.C. Milan was lucky to avoid a 5-3 stomping. I think A.C. Milan could be considering some of the Chicago players in the future...just a thought tho..

Granted it was an AP article but they're responsible for the "AC Milan hammers Fire in Chicago" title they gave it on their site. They're also ultimately responsible for passing on such incompetent reporting. You'd think that they'd write their own freaking report.

I say we let the editor know how stellar the AP article and the title they gave it was.

Based on ESPN Soccernet's shoddy editors and lack of, well, quality... I predict this headline will appear tomorrow morning..

    "D.C. United Crushed By Chelsea"

Crap title. All anyone has to read to understand the game is the quote in my sig.

Thing is, good teams win when they are supposed to, great teams win when they aren't supposed to. That is how I view this game. Fire clearly outplayed AC Milan, however they didn't do what is most important, score. ACM found the netting. Hitting the frame is a part of the game, making bad shots on breakaways, twice, and blowing the follow up shots are things that will cost you a game against a team like ACM. You have to finish your chances.
