With continued injuries that will keep him out for a few weeks and losing his place to the Swiss king, maybe Wenger should get something for him while he is still valuable. A swap for him (and cash) and Jenas would be fantastic. I reckon his best days are behind him.

Stranger things have happened mate. Think Overmars, Petit, VIERIA (he came from Senegal, he (used to) plays for the Arsenal). I'll miss that song!

All I have to say is that very very few clubs look to sell their best centre-backs just because they're 30 years old. Campbell could very well have a good 5 years left in him, even if he's not always a first choice.

Look at Paolo Maldini and Roberto Ayala. Their clubs would be kicking themselves had they sold them at age 30 simply because their best days were behind them. Even if your best days are behind you, you could still have a bunch of GOOD days ahead of you.

Campbell is, for my money, the best English footballer of his generation.

He leaves when he wants to leave.

All this talk of Campbell on the slide is garbage. He's had recurring ankle and calf problems which have been re-aggravated time and again, often due to our short stock of central defenders. Phil will actually help Sol, not force him out. We have far more options in defense with both of them.

Sol needs time to get to full fitness. 30 for a centre-back is young, especially one with Campbell's qualities.

Both players having a far far better technical game than Campbell. Campbell's biggest asset being his athleticism and his physique. He is difficult player to beat based on that. However, his body seems to be breaking down every so often, i can't imagining him playing long into his late 30's.

I have to disagree somewhat as well. Campbell has some very poor games last season. Note the game against United at Highbury, Cygan was comfortably the better defender on the night. Campbell made a number of mistakes that night and didn't get close to some of United's players in the challenge. Rooney got past him one-or-two occassions where you'd normally expect Campbell to win the challenge.

I'm not saying Campbell is finished, but his stock is the lowest it has been probably in his whole career at the moment. Can anyone actually see him supplanting Terry in the England side as of now?

Campbell would not go to Newcastle, and he won't be forced out of any club. The man is too savvy for that.

I personally expect him to go straight back into the England team for the next game. Terry has not convinced yet at international level.

I think Campbell will go back into the England side when he is fit too. Eriksson is very conservative with his team selections.

I can't see how the would be remotely justifable considering Campbell has basically been out of action for the majority of the past 10 months while Terry has arguably been the player of the last year.

He won't drop Rio, and out of Campbell and Terry i know who i'd go for.

Thinking about it objectively, you're right. But from watching Eriksson over the last few years I'd expect him to revert to his favourite pair, Campbell and Ferdinand.

I love that song very catchy and I'll never forget along with the Sol Campbell song is classic:

    "We saved Campbell,
    we saved Campbell,
We saved Campbell from the Lane.
    He joined Arsenal,
    Won The Double,
    We saved Campbell!"
