It seems we don't have in the US the kind of know how to treat this type injury. I mean we can bring Lance from the claws of cancer to win the Tour the Lance, but not enough knowledge to apply ultrasound... Great leadership to leave his team in this particular time...
If Youri's got a doctor he can trust and has worked with in France, then I'm totally cool with it. I'm also in favor of any kind of performance enhancing drugs he can take that wil get him back on the field.
I don't know the details of Youri's case (like, was it a midweek trip with him back in NJ within a week, or is it now a 2-week holiday in Provence). I do know a fair number of French nationals, and they LOVE the French medical system overall. Plus the French go in for more 'alternative' therapies than US medicine, which some French really, really, like. So I can understand why Youri might reasonably think that going back home was the way to go.
If I ever get a strained hamstring, what I would really, reallly like would be a french nurse with alternative ideas....
I amsurprised he had to go to France as there are drs that utilize Prolo Therapy as well as trigger Point Injections here that have good results in addition to standard PT. Didn't he miss a whole season over there with a similar injury a year ago or so even with their treatments???
you dont pay $400 in europe just to have your pulse cheked like they do here. Medicine is mostly free
he's obviously trying to make the best of a bad situation. of course he could get treated here but he prolly a bit homesick and wants to see some of his friends. and yes, the medical system over there is free for the most part so he may as well get his tax money's worth.
Are you kidding ..? You know what would happen if every player with a hamstring pull in the premiership or any league in the world asks for "time to see his friends because he is a bit homesick...?" But of course, this is the MLS. And if your team is struggling wouldn't you want your supposed leader to stay here to look after the kids and offer them advise from outside ...?
well hopefully he's getting some special expensive treatment over there that will speed up his recovery. that would be worth it if he could spend more time on the field rather than offering advice in the locker room.
PLEEEEAAAASEEE, do you guys realize that International players come to the US to get operated on knees. We are at the forefront of sports medicine in the world....for crying out loud can we just call things for waht they are, Youri is taking a mini vacation, visit his friends and family, go to the Provance for some wine tasting, it's a Summer in France, what can I say it's beautiful and he is enjoying it while his teammates are desperately trying to secure point to make it into the play offs. I guess Summer in Honduras is not as nice or why should Amado stay, and yes in the process he may go see a doctor but that was not the primary reason for his trip...it's so obvious...

Before Nobes blows a gasket, or by the usual posts it's too late for that. Where's the link? Don't believe you till I see the link and click on it. So till I see a link. I don't believe it.
thats pretty funny. but the guy is probably right. im french and i know that france virtually shuts down between june and august.
I guess for alexi is more important to enforce Bob's dress code than preventing this nonsense trips of happening
I don't get why he needs to go to France to be treated. There's MLB, NBA, and NFL players who have more value then he does, and do everything over here.
(shrugs) if he is going to be out for say two weeks with this injury either way, why not go and be treated by doctors who he is familiar with? Now, I don't know how long he is going to be out, or if he is even still in france. Either way, if Youri recovers and does well who cares? If he never comes back then we can be pissed.
