I miss you too! Glad things are going well!

Anytime you want to come out for a game, you know you have a place to stay!

I've been on the phone with a customer for four hours now. Their application is down and they won't let me go until it's back up.

On the bright side, I get to go to the Quakes game (and tailgate!) tomorrow. And I'm BBQ'ing a brisket on Sunday. That's pretty much what's keeping me sane right now.

Bill, I am guessing you work in retail or customer service. Isn't it wonderful when you get a call and the first thing the person says is:

"Hey there, how's it going? I have a QUICK question."

I get this all the time where I work and it's funny to see people ask it because it usually ends up turning into a 30 min. conversation instead of a quick question and answer.

Heh. Even if you are NOT working in customer service, you can hear these words quite often. Too many people just can't figure out what the heck do they want to ask, and can't put their question into a concise e-mail.

So, instead of sending an e-mail, they walk all the way to my office, and then, after saying these words, they start getting ther thoughts together (I can almost hear how their brains are creaking), trying to convert their thoughts (or lack thereof) into words.

I am too nice to say: "Hey, you moron. If you don't have your questions ready - don't even come by and waste my time with your babbling"

Yeah, it's tech support. Still on the phone, 5 hours now. Got some engineers on to work with the customer, but it looks like it's not going to get fixed until next week. I think they'll let me go pretty soon.

Funny story -- these customers are actually in Mexico. It's all I can do to refrain from saying "dos a cero!" :D

My customers don't usually say they have quick questions, but my coworkers do, all the time, and yeah, they often turn into long answers.

hahahaha. It is so funny too because it isn't just happening with younger people who are nervous because they might be making their first big purchase alone or something like that, but it happens even with middle aged/older people.

    Whatever though, it happens.

I witnessed a few customer service departments from inside.
    It was really funny sometimes.

"Thank you for you call, Mr. Johnson. Have a good day" (Hanging Up) "WHAT A ****ING BASTARD!!!!!"

"Can I ask you a question?"

    *thinks*"Um, you just did, hello!!
*but says* "Can it wait until tomorrow I'm right in the middle of trying to get 800 people paid (*thinks*including YOU!)?

"It's just a quick question.... Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...."

    Uh, huh.... Been there....

Rule #1 in the phone center...make sure the line is disconnected before you call the caller a farquhing icehole.

The customers I work with are lucky they can't hear what I yell at them.

I just wanted to give a hearfelt thanks to all who replied to my post on the first page of this thread and to those who sent me pms. It may seem silly, but the replies helped me, they really did.

It will be three weeks ago this Saturday (tomorrow) that my nephew died. Where the first two of those weeks went are a complete mystery to me. My son and I have our cousin/nephew with us everywhere we go and with everything we do. We just know it. My dad and grandparents are keeping him safe and allowing him to soar.

I wouldn't exactly say "we're back," but we are doing the best we can and we sure are looking forward to tomorrow's game. It will be the first bit of normality for me for a little while.

I plan to do some writing in the near future in my guestbook. I invite all of you to come and see. I feel the need to talk about all that's happened in the last year or so of my life. I'm hoping it will be a cathartic experience and maybe even help someone else along the way.

So, GO QUAKES!! BEAT ...(sorry, i've been out-of-order lately: who are we playing?)

Surely such a gaff wouldn't happen to someone who often works behind live mikes broadcasting unto thousands

    Thanks FAS.

One more thing I'd like to share here on the forum.

My nephew was a lacrosse player. He LOVED the game like we LOVE soccer. He would have been a high school senior this upcoming year. He wrote this and it was published about two years ago.

Please feel free to take a look-see:

For the Love of the Game

Echoing FAS's sentiments, glad to see you back yalpstel. I've thought about you and your family with hopes and beliefs that you were all able to help each other through these difficult times, and will continue to do so.

I hope you enjoy the game tomorrow. They play the Metrostars. :)

First, sorry about your loss. My nephew was killed in a car wreck when he was 16. It will be 10 years in Dec. Second, while I don't know all the details as I haven't been around in a while, if you need to talk...PM me or aimer@aimercat.com (which is probably faster).

Hmmmm, now that my trip to NYC got cancelled in Aug....temptation beckons.

Drinking water like crazy...unfortunately, it doesn't help me much with the pinched nerve I'm dealing with at the moment. Ugh...I still have to pack for Ohio (leaving on Sunday for a week of humidity to go with my heat, then add on the hotness of 13th row for Duran Duran on Tuesday on John Taylor's side of the stage...um, yeah, i'm gonna need a LOT of water)

BTW, Niedercat is fine too, though we had a rough patch in December where I almost lost him (undetected really bad respiratory infection that was turning into pneumonia, plus he was suffering from depression as his boyfriend aka my roomie's cat had to be put down a month earlier.). I'm really STILL PO'D at a vet in Studio City, CA...when my gal pal and I go for walks down Ventura Blvd. We yell "Cat Killers" as we go by...luckily, they didn't kill him, but they almost did and unfortunately, they did kill a couple of friend's cats. I love my Quakes, but I'm glad hockey is back. Now maybe people will stop thinking I named him after an Animal House character.

and if you haven't noticed by all the tangents...in the past year of my absence, my ADD has come out of remission. fun times!!!

Writing can be great therapy. It helps you see the bigger picture of things and get an idea of how you're really feeling. Sometimes I'll write something out and then go back and read it, thinking, "wow, now I see how I really feel." Hope it helps you. And it's good to have you back.

My son's team has a tournament August 13-15.

OMG!! It's the California Sun & Surf International Soccer Tournament.

Go to the tournament website, scroll about half-way down the page and look who is a sponsor!!!

    I feel SO FRICKIN' DIRTY.

How do I get over this?!??! I'm damaged seriously by the thought alone. Will I have to look at stuff that belongs to that club? Will I accidently see someone who plays for that club?!?!

    WTF!!!

I booked my hotel room already. Maybe I should just jump on a cruise ship and get the hell out of there!

Well it is held in Long Beach for the most part. You shoulda booked a room on the Queen Mary. Then you could have at least pretended you were on a cruise ship out at sea! :p

I miss Long Beach! My mom has a condo there by the beach. But I haven't been there in years.
