What will your reaction be? I know some of us are conspriracy theorists - but if a team that couldn't score in a brothel last year passes on this year's most sought after forward, without us acquiring Kucharsky or Nunez pre draft, how fired up will you be?

I'd rather take Pope back with Metro paying his salary for us.

Although a new stadium downtown somewhere... with a DCU store, lots of Soccer Friendly Pubs, and an area set aside for tailgating.

If that were to happen, it would convince me that the MLS is nothing more than a second rate product. And the ridicule being heaped upon it from supporters from other leagues would be hard to defend.

I couldn't agree with you more, and if the Metros wanted him so bad, maybe they should have finished last ;)

I would rather have a proven goalscorer like Mathis than someone 'untested' like Alecko. He may be great but he will still need a season to get up to MLS speed.

Do you think we could build a new stadium where the current DC convention center is?

They keep saying they won't need it when the new one is finished and that they don't know what to do with it. They could knock it down and build us a stadium.

It would suck, how much depends on whether we get Nunez, Osario, etc. Eski is a great prospect but if where going to have him taken away from us I wouldn't ask for anything less than Mathis. Also I agree with what Chico says these types make MLS look bad.

I've wondered this before, but I doubt it could be done. I don't think there is enough space for a full-sized field, stands, and even a minute amount of parking. Think about a place like Highbury and try to drop it in the middle of DC.

The capacity is 38,000, so yes, it's bigger than what our stadium would be but in terms of design and layout that's what I think our place would look like.

Actually with the recent redevelopments it seats almost 36,000 now. If they stay in the premiership and ever find enough money to finish it, the stadium should seat around 40,000.

    If I were Alecko...

Would I rather go to the Metrostars and see limited playing time? or...

Would I rather go to DC United and have a good shot at being a starter?

Yeah, I know they still have to use their major allocations.

Do I want to play behind Mathis and Moreno?

Or is it a better opportunity to play as partner to Quaranta or to try to beat out Quaranta and partner DC's major allocation?

DC doesn't sound so bad and is still close enough to family for them to see games.
