If Pizarro can find the consistancy, he will be a top class striker. He has the complete package. He is very important to the team. His return to the lineup after his head injury last year was a major catalyst for the 04/05 Bayern team. He just needs to get it done away from home more often.

I predict Bayern will win the Champions League.

BTW why was the "The all-encompassing Karimi thread" closed? Was it liberated by the allies? Maybe we can turn it into a museum of tolerance tread.

I think Bayern have the quality to win it this time because apart from chelsea, Barca, other teams are not too strong to beat.

Milan: Stars defense are getting old and older, and it shows how weak they are in the semi and final games last season.

Real: hehe without Figo and zidance, no one will fear them. Zizou has past his glory days

Liverpool: :D, i predict they will get eliminated early in the group phase

MU: any one who can replace keane and the old Giggs yet

Bayern: midfielders are getting better and better especially with the trio demi, sweisteiger, deisler. with Karimi and Santa cruz, Bayern won't have the shortage of strikers like in the last season.

Plus you still have Schweini, Deisler, Scholl, and Karimi now, all midfielders... maybe rotate them up there if the other three are not consistent enough. Never know, oh yea Ballack too :) so i mean you have plenty of players to fill a spot, play with one striker and ballack and schweini right behind him.

I hope that Madrid don't get out of the group phase. I want that team hit hard in their pocket books.

I think Bayern are going to scare the living @#$% out of clubs across Europe. I don't know why, but I just see them being so much better than last season and that should frighten the competition.

I said they would be eliminated in the Semis....thinking they will run out of gas with trying to do The Treble.

I don't want Madrid in the final....they are not the team they were 4 years some seasons back and don't deserve to be in the final although I wouldn't mind knocking them off in the group stages.

I would LOVE Chelsea in the final or sometime before that, revenge would be soooo sweet!

I want Bremen in the final. I'm still sore from getting no silverware in 2003/2004 :D

Plus it would be amazing for German soccer.

Johnny come lately? lol nice one.
I am supporting a club that is a few miles away from where i was born and live, are u doing the same i wonder.

As to the Ballack issue, i was only kidding, like someone said, everyone dives every now and again. No biggie. But lets be honest here, the only reason the second leg was so close was cause after the second goal we were pretty much in cruise control. We could easily have gone all out and scored more goals if we needed too, so i dont think Makaay or Pizarro playing would have made that much of a difference, cause i am sure our defense would have coped.

But what interests me, is Bayern seem to have basically the same team as last season, and they werent able to get past us in the CL. So whats the main difference between this year and last that makes you guys so optimistic? Especially if you lose Ballack, will be a major blow for your chances of CL.

Well, that came off as a bit arrogant....Chelsea could have scored if they wanted to....I think Bayern really put the preasure on Chelsea in the second leg and the Londoners let out a sigh of relief at the end of the game.

Either way, Our team hasn't changed dramatically but there were some key changes. Lahm has finally returned, one of the big prospects of German football, a left back with immense talent and pace, remember him from the game against Stuttgart in the CL? heh. Ismael came in for Kovac which should eliminate that height problem that we had against Drogba...Ismael is just as strong and tall as Didier.

We also got Asia's biggets footballing prospect who has been named Asia's Maradonna....thats gotta mean something...from what I've seen, even Ronaldinho would be impressed with his moves...just have to see if he can prove it in Europe. Schweinsteiger is coming back from a series of great performances for the German NT. I'm pretty sure Ballack will stay and I think is at the height of his game and has a great lust to win the CL before he can leave Bayern.

There is an overall feel of confidence and togetherness about this Bayern team and Magath imput a strong sense of optimism after a successful first season as coach, things can only go up from here. They made a strong impressive showing in the CL last season, I think they can improve on that performance next season.

hell, we might as well not compete... it seems no team except chelsea can improve in the offseason and learn from their mistakes!
if we couldnt beat them once, we'll basically never beat them! :p

lets all just withdraw from european competition and hand the CL to them, eh? good ole russian monopoly! :)

Do you understand something about football? Most of the teams who won the CL had nearly the same team the year befor. Why do you think Milan in the last years was so good? Because the don't change the team much. This is why i don't think Chelsea will win the CL.

I do think Chelsea should be the fav for the CL, simply because we have strengthened every one of our weak areas. Striker, we have Crespo, who is a great striker, especially when it comes to CL and Del horno, as left back, which is where Bayern caused us a lot of problems and we will also bring in Essien as an extra midfielder, even though honestly we dont need him.

But i am glad Bayern got Lahm, they were very weak in that position, and also a good cb to help Lucio, was desperately needed. Hopefully you guys will do much better next season.

Btw, anyone here have stats for Makay in the CL? Cause i know the guy is great in the Bundesliga, scoring hattricks week in week out. But he always seems to struggle with the Dutch team on the international scene. Does he have similar problem in CL?
