By the way, Quakes fans don't really need another Landon every game to focus on/rally around for angry inspiration, do we?

Now with that special bit of practice with sign-making on Saturday, how about getting creative with AEG every game?
    Three letters, so many possibilities.

I sure hope the Quakes didn't leave all their emotion on the field last Saturday that they come out flat tonight. Go Quakes!

Just a thought: Maybe SanJoe should push the fact that we're the re-headed step-children of the league; disrespected and unappreciated by AEG and the league. This shouyld become out motto. The league is so devoid of teams with any personality that this could just stick. The media has brought this up on several occasions already and I think it would be a way to make SanJoe stand apart from the rest of the teams in the league. Afterall, The quakes already play the most attractive soccer in the league.

Interesting idea, but the Quakes' current owner would never allow it.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

Do you mean the current owner will tell fans what they can and cannot say?

    Horse pucky!

Look at how Guadalajara (sp?) reversed the insult of being called goats by the press in Mexico City into the very proud Chivas. They've made a mountain out of a molehill.

I think it's a grand idea: let the fans here do the same.

He meant for it to become the team's official motto.

There's no way that AEG would let a statement mocking its handling of our franchise (however true it is) become the official motto.

Besides, once the new local investors take over, it'll eventually become a moot point anyway. ;)

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

Not for me !!! I'll NEVER forget what they tried to do to the San Jose Earthquakes. I'm not going to mention them specifically (until the sale is done), but I have made a flag in reference to what they TRIED to do to us. Nothing elaborate, but I am bringing it to the game tomorrow ...

From an article on quakemagic written by Nick Arellano. I didn't want to make a new post about this cuz I didn't want to stir up a storm, but I've been looking around to see if anyone else had caught this quote and I haven't seen it mentioned. I figured burying it here would get me knowledgeable responses. Anyone know any specifics, or if he's just speculating? It reads to me like he believes he knows something, but I could see how it could be interpreted as sepculation, as well. Thoughts? Bold added by me.

"So there it was: Quakes 3 Galaxy 0. It was a great night of soccer in the not good enough for AEG Spartan Stadium. And what could be better than watching the "jewel of the west" meltdown for a second time? The answer: Learning that a deal to keep the Quakes in San Jose is about 90% completed. AEG will only visit with the Galaxy but it might do the Quakes faithful some good to learn a little Dutch. Well, one can dream. Right?"

I had a great lunch of roast pork at Los Cubanos yesterday. First time trying Cuban food and it was quite good. Just down the street from the Quakes office.

Re-read the bold part. I think that he's saying, "well wouldn't that be neat." That is a far cry from saying that he has any insider info. Maybe the reference to learning Dutch is supposed to mean something, but I'm not holding my breath. Journalists all over the internet having been teasing the Earthquakes I/O situation over the last couple of weeks - ever since the traitor GM gAlexi Lalas said something would happen in "weeks not months." My favorite is Dude Love's column:

    Why so cynical Mr B?

Is it something against Loney because he's a Galaxy fan?

The Earthquakes and Wizards both wear blue.

Not that both teams won't be saved in their current markets, of course.

    WHOA.......

I got a premonition at work about the new I/Os.

If Nick is right, then it makes sense why SSV has been so secretive (these guys wouldn't want egg on their face if a deal doesn't happen. They can't afford bad PR)

Also, I was scratching my head over the request for pressure on Milpitas. But now I suspect that these guys are interested in more then a simple SSS. They are probably looking at a combination of SSS, Office park and maybe even a training complex (not as elaborate as the HDC, but perhaps something like a mini-Bradenton academy?). They could have euro teams come over during winter breaks and even sponser a preseason tournament along the lines of the La Manga tourny. That means they need a large amount of land (more then the Spartan area has) and a city willing to work with them (I'm thinking that Santa Clara might be too "pushy" for them).

Man, if I'm right then we're going to be the envy of most of MLS. We'll have some serious pull to get decent friendlies, we'll have an I/O with enough money to take on the AEGs and Hunts.

Or if you guys actually want DVD, I can do that. The disc also has Ching's WCQ goals on it and all but one of the Quakes goals this season to date on it.

    Hmmmmmm........

Here's part of a "missions value and strategy" quote from the guys I think could be our secret investors (it's on their website). I'm not going to quote the whole thing because it'll "out" them, but it dovetails nicely with who I'm thinking could be our new I/O.

    Brand Promise
At the heart of the company's growth plan is its desire to serve customers and consumers through progressive innovation and market leadership - by understanding the experience where people meet technology and improving it. And, it is doing so by helping people interact with technology in a more natural way.

The role of sponsorships in building our brand presence in the U.S. assumed a more important position in our marketing arsenal during 2002. Soccer is now the focus of virtually all our sponsorship activities

Oh, I like the sound of that!
