1. What do people know about Park, the new midfielder signed at Man U?

    I read one article which said he could replace any of he Scholes, Giggs, Ronaldo or Keane -- four very different players.

    Soccernet says, if nothing else, he can replace one of the Nevilles at right back.

    What kind of a player is he, where will Fergie put him on the field, and is he nothing more than the next inamoto??

    I saw him in the Champions League last season when PSV reached the semi-finals.

    He seems like quite a decent player, so Mancs he should be a good signing by Fergie.

    Park has a solid work ethic and can run around the pitch for hours.

    Park won't be playing right-back, he's a versatile MF (can play pretty much any position well except for DMF - not physically built like Keane). It's going to take some time and a little bulk for him to adjust to the next level, but I think he'll be a good player for manure

    Shirley he's been bought to replace Giggs, long-term, hasn't he??? He's not in the same league as Ronaldo and Giggs is in his in his autumn years!

    And they could have bought me for a lot less, to replace either of the Neville mongs, lol, yahahahhahahahah :D

  8. The newspaper article and clip were great. (I have not actually had the chance to download the clip, too big and I am logged on at work, but I will get to it).

    I am looking forward to seeing him play. I thought Ronaldo was to replace Giggs -- he is not a true Beckham replacement, I don't think.

    Man, I hope Park lives up to expectations and gets to play, but I'm not so sure. He really only had one great season with PSV, and a good WC. Both times his manager was Hiddink, who said a couple of days ago that Park should've stayed one more year.

    That being said, I think he has the ability and work ethic to succeed at United, andseems determined to do so. Also, with the somewhat limited transfer budget Man U has, I don't think Fergie would shell out that kind of money with no promise of getting any shirt sale money to spend on players, although who knows whats going on in the ManU board room

  10. Okay, so I am ignorant:

    (1) what do you guys mean by "lol"

    (2) what do you mean by "WC" (I think water closet, but that makes little sense).

    He is a very good player who runs around for the 90 minutes flat!! But there is the obvious marketing reasons as well which leads me to believe that he will at the very least get some play time.

    I think he will be good enough to play but EPL is very different from PSV!! So he might take a while to become accustomed.

    PS I just made a bet/dare and if he doesn't play 45 minute average per game......DAMN!!! If it does happen and I lose....I will not forgive him or the Koreans.....I'd be abusing every single Korean!! So for my sake he better!

    lol = laughing out loud
    WC = World Cup

    Park may do wonders for United if they were looking to break into the Korean market, but I don't think fans in Japan, China or other parts of Asia will flock to buy his shirts. And the Korean market by itself isn't that large enough to expect huge 'returns on investment'.

  13. Thanks.

    I dunno about Park sales in Japan. Depends if he is handsome.

    There seems to be a bit of a Korea boom going on in Japan right now, with Korean dramas on the television, and Korean stars being popular.

    So, we shall watch and see.

    Lol, I guess it depends on the varying tastes of individuals, but I think most ppl will prefer to think that Park's just a good footballer :)

    From what I've seen of him (since WC2002) he's an outstanding midfielder. His Ambidexterity gives him the power to get first team football on a regular basis, even with Man UTD.

    I've watched a fair share of matches to confidently say that he definately stands out domestically and internationally. Ball control, passing, crossing, free kicks, pace, skill, strength/work-rate - All top notch.

    I read an article the other day stating that his arrival could spark a liquidation sale @ O.T.

    Really though, it's about bleedin time they did. I mean, they've had the odd youngster come in over the years, but the heart of the team is still totaly in the hands of the VET's, barring Rooney & Ronaldo. C,mon now, you mean G.Neville @ 30yrs old is still the only week in week out RB for UTD. What's up with that. Surely a replacement ought to be sorted.

    Then again, "if it's not broken............"

    I cant see that happening. Gary still has a future ahead of him.

  19. I understand that quality football is important to tee shirt sales, but I am comfortable Beckham sells more shirts in Japan than Ronaldo or Ronaldinho. And the Japanese love to doll up the photos of European professional football players in order to sell magazines.
