Sorry if there is a post about this around, but im new here. I had a 2 day tourney the other day, 4 games. At the end of the first game I noticed a huge blister on my right heel. What my coach and I did was out a bandaid on it, tape it up and what not. It felt pretty good. Anyway he told me to keep it open, so the air can get at it, and I have for 2 days. Anyway, its still very red, and when I flick it, it hurts. So I dont really like to tape it up every game, I have a game and ODP training tonight. What do you guys think I should do to make it heal? My brother said try wearing my predators, because I have been wearing vapors, he said maybe it was because of my vapors. He would reccomend Total 90's, but I dont have them. Is this a good idea? What else should I do to make it heal faster? Thanks a bunch
Though i've had no personal experience with vapors, i've heard of numerous people getting blisters from them (though I think it's more a result of an improper sized boot!). Wearing those preds wouldn't be a bad idea, and taping isn't bad either. Try this post for prevention tips.
DON"T GET TOTAL 90's. They gave me the biggest blisters ever. Just tape up your blisters and wear double socks. You will be fine.
you could try and pop it, if not just tape it up good so nothing will iritate it,i usually put a piece or 2 of guase(sp?) on it and then tape that and wear socks over it
don't pop the blister. it's better to let it take care of itself. it sounds as though it's already ripped open though, so double up on socks like said, and if taping it is helping then do that, regardless of how annoying it is to do. Don't flick it, causing pain to yourself. If the skin on it rips and is kind of flapping over, don't rip that off- keeping it there will actually help speed up the healing process I believe. When I'm playing, I usually use band-aids that are specifically made for blisters. You can get them in a Wal-mart type store, or pharmaseutical store. Also, sometimes I soak my feet in a mixture of Betadine solution(antiseptic type solution, which is brownish/orange in color) and warm water. And maybe don't wear the vapors right away, they'll probably continue to irritate your foot. Seriously, you can't break a pair of them in really quickly, it seems. When they're new, wear them around the house to get accustomed to the fit, and when you play in them, don't wear them for hours. And if there's discomfort while wearing them, take them off and switch boots. Not everything is instantaneous.
Two mid game options: 1) when a bit off skin has opened up, stuff the blister with zinc lotion, then band-aid and tape and double socks, or 2) drug stores carry a product called second skin which goes on the skin, then band-aid and lots of tape. It is gelatin like and is supposed to absorb the friction. I have not first hand experience with this method but it is trainer recommended. Definitely wear different boots if this an option for you. Blisters are so annoying, not so much during a game when you are focussed, but in practice they are irritating and take a couple of weeks to heal when you are playing several times a week.
You can always try buying like a blister barrier gel and rub that all over your foot. OR i think vaseline probably works the same. Its just creates a barrier and should prevent the blister. I wear vapors and the ONLY boots i've ever got blisters from have been my copas. Maaaaan, those were nasty blisters!! appleCORR
Oh yessss! they were the WORST blisters i have EVER had in my life. They were the size of 50ps on both balls of my feet. I havent had any problems since with my copas. But i couldnt walk or anything!! - lol appleCORR
hmm, this was my introduction to vapors played trials for bout 3-4 hours, cut the skin of an had it for tea with a bit of gravey. still got a few scars from different times, best solution is the vasaline idea, any form of plaser etc just makes it worse only prob with vasaline is its damn messy an needs reapplyin alot
that is just plain sick. you're supposed to deep fry the skin and spread on honey butter, instead of topping it off with that nasty gravy!! sheesh.
Damn man, see my mum always said i had a lot to learn when it comes to cookin thanks for the tip. Blood blisters rock, you wanna get yourself some of that cold spray for blisers although your not supposed to put it on broken blisers, i put it on the one shown when the skin was still hangin off an damn well nearly went through the roof not the best of ideas.
haha yeah, I put some of that liquid bandage on an open blister and the sharp shooting pain was awful!!!
