Saturday, June 11 CLB-COL - 9,597 KC-NE - 9,456(Bad weather all day in KC) LA-RSL - 23,275 Sunday, June 12 MET-DC - 12,645 CHI-DAL - 12,485 CHV-SJ - 7,865 Something occurred to me - are Dallas and Chicago doing any marketing pushes to get season tickets before the new stadiums open? I.e. (Use your best Don Pardo voice) Buy the package now and know that these fabulous seats in our opulent new palace will be yours when it opens?
Is it just me or does that not make any sense? I can understand not doing it for the season before the stadium opens, which may get Chicago off the hook, but there isn't any reason why Dallas shouldn't have been trying to get people locked into season packages for the entire season - Cotton Bowl and Frisco. Not to mention the fact that it would bring people together ... "we're the ones who stood up for the team"; give people and the media something to look forward to and point towards; and provide an opportunity for some pretty good PR and grass roots fan base building. Again, this is another example of how better marketing and promotions management could help the league. It won't matter if Beckham and the entire Brazilian national team are in the league if the front offices won't pick the low hanging fruit. Does anyone know if Colorado's new palace is going to be ready before or during a season?

We've had really heavy rain all day here in KC. Forecast is calling for more thunderstorms tonight. It's too bad. I think it's going to be a fun game tonight.
Saturday, June 11 CLB-COL - 10,000 KC-NE - 10,900 LA-RSL - 21,500 Sunday, June 12 MET-DC - 13,000 CHI-DAL - 12,250 CHV-SJ - 8,500
there was some drizzling but only a few minutes of actual rain, given the flash storms the last few days I'd guess a few might've been scared away but overall I doubt the weather was a huge factor today
There was a surprisingly large article in the Columbus paper today about Crew attendance. All of you attendance fans ought to check it out: http://www2.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=207185
Interesting article. If people know the style of play isnt attracting fans why do they keep it staus quo? Thats suicide.
I'm not sure how much advertising FCD has been doing for Frisco, but they sure as hell don't want any new fans to get initiated in Cotton Bowl. It's been said for the last half year that Colorado's will be up on time for 2007 season, but construction starts like in fall. That gives roughly 18-20 months to get the job done. And given it's Colorado, weather will come into factor.
Are you guys watching the KC game. OUCH!!!!!!! There is no way and I repeat no way there are more than 5k in the stadium. I dont want to hear any of this "well it is a big nfl stadium and it looks like there is no one there because it is a big stadium." 5k is being generous. The stadium should be called The Coffin when the Wiz is playing there, because it is dead.
What's wrong with the Cotton Bowl? The field is one of the best in MLS and the stadium is situated in a fairly attractive park. Other than poor knee room and marginal restrooms, there isn't much wrong with the place.
The biggest complaint I have about watching a game in KC isnt the crowd but that Damn Current Affair theme song they always play.
Actually, I was surprised by the cleanliness of the restrooms. They seemed a lot less run-down than the rest of the place. It's not a bad place--I think the steepness of the bowl is a big plus. I wouldn't call the area an "attractive park," but it's not half as bad as Arrowhead. I think you notice it a lot less there than cavernous Arrowhead (I've been to both). I mentioned the steepness of the seating bowl already, and it really isn't as big as I was expecting. It's 10,000 seats smaller than Arrowhead, and it feels even smaller, I think.
