Scotland beat Moldavia 2-0. Took a nap after finally getting first goal. Late goal sealed it up. Not much of a squad for Scotland but at least Walter Smith wears nice looking ties.
Has any country lost the plot as much as Scotland over the last twenty years? What are the reasons for this? I'm genuinely interested to know. Outplayed by Moldova for goodness sakes in periods of that game.
WE JUST HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT SCOTLAND ARE PISH BERTIE HANDED OUT TO MANY CAPS TO PRITTY ORDINARY PLAYERS AND CRAIG BROWN WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER MANAGED IN A NURSING HOME WITH SOME OF THE PLAYERS HE USED TO PICK. THERE IS A GOOD CROP OF YOUNG PLAYERS COMING THROUGH BUT THIS COULD ALSO BE RUINED BY THEM SITTING ON BENCHES WITH THE OLD FIRM ! WHAT U THINK
SFA diddies + Roxburgh & Brown + the SPL forming, just 10 teams and filling those teams with dud foreign players instead of focussing on youth development + Dwindling population = A concoction of shortsightedness politics and just general mediocrity that would have probably brought countries 20 times bigger to their footballing knees.
I was there. It was completely shite. I got wet. Barry Ferguson and Kenny Miller were easily the worst players and I hope neither wears our national strip ever again. Ferguson is far too slow, needs too many touches and generally breaks down all of our midfield play, allowing the opposition to mark up. Miller is a tool upfront for us, doesn't have a first touch and generally wastes far too much. McFadden should have been brought on much sooner, in fact, he should have started. Great to see Dailly back.
Ferguson was superb! Don't listen to Livi boy, some folk just hate Barry Ferguson because he's Barry Ferguson.
Have to agree there..to be fair he played well and..Miller was utter s#%t. Dont think the Scots will miss Rab.. Gordon is as good if not better.
Yeah Gordon never put a foot wrong yesterday, he looks like he's going to be a superb 'keeper. Miller started ok but his first touch is rotten and he can't read a pass whatsoever. McFadden should start on wednesday. On Wednesday i'd go for: ______________Gordon Caldwell___Webster___Weir___Alexander ______________Dailly ________Fletcher___Ferguson McFadden__________________McCulloch _______________Riordan
Watch the game again. All of my points are true. He isn't a bad players, but his presence is currently a hindrance. It is made even worse because he is being asked to sit back and basically play DM, which is something he can't do effectively because his tacking is poor. Is there any wonder that the world superpower that is Moldova, completely owned the midfield?
Sorry forgot to add that I thought Fletcher had a bad game as well...gave the ball away a bit....Fergushun is not a DM ,but I think he can still show up and at Dead ball's he's not bad!!!
I hate Barry Ferguson because he is Barry Ferguson, but I dont begrudge him credit when he plays well for scotland, yesterday I didnt think he played well, he looked off the pace and as if he wanted 5 minutes on the ball everytime he got it to work out what to do with it. But then again our entire midfield did. I think its the general concensus now as well Kenny Miller is not the player he once promised to be, almost as many caps as Mcfadden, a winger, and 5 less goals. Jamesybhoy has to be starting.
I'm not going to slag Fletcher off too much. He wasn't that bad and was carrying an injury. If McNamara had survived, I'm sure Darren would have been substituted in the second half.
Fletcher - Carrying and injury Dailly - Hasn't played all season Alexander - Out of position Pressley - Carrying an injury McCulloch - Out of position Injured - Quashie, Naysmith, Anderson, Dickov, O'Conner, Douglas, McNamara, McNamee, McCann All considering I think we did well to win 2-0. Re: Fletch, I think the bbc player ratings summed his game up well: 'Darren Fletcher: Looked like he would control the game after an impressive start. Showed an excellent range of passing but seemed to tire in the second half and dropped out of the game.' http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/4610367.stm
McCulloch has been playing at left mid for Wigan for a few seasons now, so I would say he was being played out of position on Saturday. It's no coincidence that his best bit of play came from the left wing, when he set up the first goal. Dailly started as a forward as well but playing him as a striker would definately be playing him out of position. If McCulloch stayed as a forward at club level I very much doubt he would have gotten a call up because he couldn't get a regular game as a forward for Wigan.
