lol geez guys you can beat defenders by setting them up before you even get within 3 yards of them by then a simple mathews or a stepover is all you need, dont know what leagues you guys play in but if you try some rainbow or elastico you liable to get thrown to the ground

The best move to use in a one vs. one situation is just to take the ball and dribble at the defender with pace and let the defender make your decision for you...if he commits go by him, if he gives you lots of room one way just explode by him, if he keeps retreating, just gain enough space to either shoot or make a pass. moves are good if you dont have too many options and very little space. Speed is so useful when dribbling against an opponent. just look at Henry.

hey guys, my first post, so have mercy on me.

i agree with fookstick in the fact that there is always an easier option than doing so many stepovers that you trip yourself up.

the reason i say this is because my cocach, an ex-pro, keeps telling me to "stop fannying about and pass the ball". As you can tell, i am one of the WBCBC (white boots and coloured boots community :) ) who wears flash boots and tries tricks, with an average success rate.

another question --> what exactly is a rainbow? i think i know what you mean-> the ball is flicked over your head with your heel, and if you are lucky or very good, the defender's also!

Does anyone have a link that has video of cool 1 v 1 moves? there is a website called soccervideos.com, or something of that nature (it's on my computer at home and i'm at work right now) But that one is mostly goals. I love watching those videos. Thanks!

My favorite move is a reverse scissors with a nutmeg as you turn to go the other way. And also the flip flap otherwise known as the ronaldina and some other name for all of you soccer players practice this move at it will juke your opponent, for me it works better walking and i still take them it makes defenders look bad.

The best 1 v 1 move I have ever seen was that guy in Shaolin Soccer that turned the ball into a ball of fire........man that is a sure way to burn a defender. :D

I like to use the push & go, Rollar coaster, Fake kicks, step overs and cruyffs. Another move allows you to beat two defenders. Ok there's a defender in front and about 2-3 yards to the side, you faint to the oppisite side of the defender(who is on the side) then roll the ball across your body(now the ball should be closer to the defender on the side) then take off splitting the two defenders while still having the ball at your feet the whole time

My personal favorite would have to be jogging past the defender with the ball, then when he least expects it,I knee him in the balls and pretend I was simply running by... and as he squirms on the ground I sprint past him :D

do anything that Cristiano Ronaldo does...seems to work most of the time and it looks pretty cool too. just don't go to ground so easily hahaha. No really, if you want to see confidence in the dribble and creativity at work, look at this guy with ball at his feet. He combines pace, with body movement, and great foot speed and foot work as well as the softest of touches. Sometimes he goes a little overboard but thats alright. He combines scissor steps, pullbacks, crossovers and a variety of cuts (sometimes all at once)...good stuff.

The only one-on-one move I have is using my stregnth to run past people :D Or I just fake a shot and go the opposite way , I'm not the most skilful player ever :D

Here's a couple that almost always work.

You are running at a defender or by a defender. Get him to chase beside you. Fake like a shot and plant your foot. This makes the defender to stick out his foot to stop you, then you meg him with your opposite foot.

You are on a breakaway running at the goal with someone chasing you. You stop and roll over the ball and hit it with your heel so it stops and a little to the right or left depending on which foot is dominate. Then the defender keeps going and you should have a clear shot on goal.

Just a simple fake right then go left would work alright. I like the one where you step over then kick the ball around with your other foot.

Hmmm? I'm confused - why would you stop to let the defender catch up if you were on a breakaway?

you start off sideways to the goal and you pull the ball back and stepover it at the same time with your right foot, so the defender takes a step foward, but as you pull it back you pull it into your left foot which takes a big tough foward and leaves the defender in the dust

i know it doesnt make any sence but it works

My favorite is when I go at the defender full speed and do a maradonna it works all the time because your sheilding the ball the hole time really. Then you blow by him. :)

Mathews when dribbling diagonally and being jockeyed.
Body swerve/Russian when dribbling at speed at a defender that's square.

Usually just a lunge works, however when I have time and space I like to roll the ball across my body, and then step over the ball with the same foot that rolled it. With a quick burst of speed, it usually beat the defender. But like I said a simple lunge (or two) works.

When I used to play football I simply was the best. My buddy Finquin can confirm that :)
