I personally think that the win against Mexico last summer is the best win ever. It finally showed the World we can play, and belong with the world's best. Not to mention it came against Mexico......

I say it's Mexico as well. Nothing can be more satisfying than beating our rivals.

USA v. England, they are making a movie of that game.

I say the US's biggest win was the loss against germany, but that's just me.

i say it's the game against mexico because it's the most recent u.s. win and it was a world cup game...

I watched every US game at the World Cup besides the Portugal game, and have to say, every win (or game) had it's specialty. I also liked the wins before the World Cup. They played great, and never gave up no matter how bad the officiating was.

    That's deep man...

Over here, it is true that it is the game that people remember.

Our best win where we "won":) , I voted for Portugal just because it was so unexpected to go up 3-0. Watching Portugal not really being able to grasp that it was losing to a team it was supposed to wipe the floor with was extremely gratifying.

Not that it'd win, or even should, but where is the 3-0 shellacking of Argentina in the '95(?) Copa America?

    The Portugal win, definitely.
It set the tone for the rest of the World Cup for the US.
Just an amazing game, such adrenaline.

I was just about to post the same message, I couldn't agree with you more. That result has to be in the same row with the 1950 win over England is just that big in my mind, it was a shock.

I disagree because the 1950 win against England was a fluke.

Not just you. Me too. US team showed the world that they can play against any team, they lost to Germany but Germany's win was not easy.

Not to mention that Franz Beckenbauer and all the German newspapers said the Yanks should have won.

Still, I'd go with the win over Colombia in the '94 World Cup, believe it or not. Without that win, we don't make it to the 2nd round of that World Cup, MLS doesn't get started, and we likely don't even qualify for the 2002 World Cup (maybe 1998, since the competition was pretty weak and our mix of European pros and college guys probably could have squeaked past the likes of Canada and El Salvador, but not 2002).

As for the best win at the time, I'd go with Mexico in the World Cup.

    Huh

I agree with the Germany game and Franz Beckenbauers assessment.

The team that played against Columbia in 94 was nothing compared to the team that played in 02.
That was home field advantage nothing more. Remember no home team has failed to make it to the second round. (Dont expect Japan and Korea to show as well in Germany)

On the personal side: Brazil 1-0. I still remember Preki´s goal and then watching Keller stop everything that came at him. For me, that was the game where I began to believe that the US was on the move up.

As far as ´the world´ is concerned: The loss to Germany in the WC is what my British and Spanish friends talk about. But since we´re talking ´win´, I guess the Portugal result is the win people will remember.

I´m voting for the Brazil game. :)

The other game you don't mention was the game where the USA realized we might someday be a decent soccer nation...

    Foxboro 1993

    USA 2 (Dooley, Lalas)
    England 0

WC vs. Mexico, because in the eyes of the world, the Portugal result was maybe starting to look like a fluke. We were lucky to find ourselves in the knockout rounds, and we needed to prove that we belonged there.
Plus, the rest of the world got to see our rivalry...the existence of which being a small sign that we are becoming a soccer nation.
