Rio Ferdinand is world class. I would trade him for Samuel any day. But as I think has already been mentioned it's probably just his agent spreading rumours to help him get the pay raise he's seeking at United.

The papers are starting to pick up a lot of rumors. Marca says that Sacchi wants Emerson (29 years old - don't know about this one); AS says that we are in a battle with Man U and Chelsea for Essien; The Guardian is saying that we can forget about Rio Ferdinand. Once the season is over, we will see more and more of these rumors.

The funniest one is that Mouhrino is saying that RM can't afford Lampard. For once, I agree with him. How could any team buy a player from Chelsea?

Apparently Chelsea will pay 12 million euros for Del Horno and have offered Barcelona 45 million euros for Eto'o. 45 million euros! Damn.

With Atlético de Madrid out of the Copa del Rey, they will probably not compete in Europe next year. They need money to re-build the team and they have two very different options: sell their stadium (an option that's bene out there for a while) or sell two top players to build a better squad (Torres and Perea would probably bring in some big money).

I asked the same question when we were talking about Samuel. I think we are looking at defenders because Helguera is 30 years old, no one knows what will happen with Woodgate, and we do not have a fast central defender. I think the club is also looking for solid subs for our fullbacks - when Salgado went down, Luxemburgo played the very leftfooted Raúl Bravo and a central midfielder (Celades) in that role. Not good.

It's not a question of being able to afford him, with the transfer funds we'll have for the next season we could probably 'afford' him twice over (if not three) it's just that Chelsea wouldn't sell and the player probably wouldn't want to go.

I don't understand why he got voted most on "the Marca poll" anyway, a poll I haven't even seen on their site while I visit it regularly. With Woodgate coming, we've already got an 'extra' defensive midfielder in Helguera, so.......it's most likely a make believe poll full of blatant an ominous lies! If I'm not mistaken Reyes (and maybe Joaquin) were on it as well, which is just further proof that poll never existed, or else my left mouse button would have made sure those two players would have topped that poll....if that were necessary in the first place.

I didn't vote in that poll. Well, I never saw that poll. And reading the article, it seems that it was a very limited poll. To use that poll to say in his frontpage that "Lampard is the favourite of Real Madrid supporters, Florentino you must sign him!!!!" is, at least, very pretentious and precipitated.

I don't know what were their reasons, but i'm very disappointed with some of the last news of Marca. Mainly, with their frontpage of some weeks ago, when they revealed a total personal and untransferable information about a RM player, lying obout it. They showed a total lack of ethics.

I hope that they don't continue making that type of mistakes or they can lose a lot of readers.

Now, that la liga is over. I think that this thread is going to have a lot of prominence. The madness begin!!!!

Each day of the the next days/weeks/months will appear in the newspapers/radios/TVs a infinite number of players linked with real Madrid, and the same number of real madrid players will be linked to other teams. Yeah, In Real Madrid that happens during all the season, but now will be officially the main subject of all the newspapers/radios/TVs/ .... !!!!

Personally, i'm very excited and very optimistic about the next season. Much more than in the last seasons.

I have a great confidence in Luxa/Sacchi/Butragueño work. And the end of the season have showed us that we have a group of player with a lot of guts, and ambition to win.

I can't wait to the start of the preseason, to see the first friendly games, the first training sessions, to check how Luxa mix the the new faces and the old ones, all supervised by Sacchi/Butragueño to make a really really strong team for the next season.

I agree. Our team is already pretty old.

Also, does anyone know what happened to RM's interest in Mascherano? Gravesen has done a good job filling in the hole this season but he's also an older player. I think we really need to inject some youth into our squad.

there is mention, among a certain thread in the Manchester United forum that David Beckham is being sought by Glazer as a possible purchase and addition to the new man u despotism.

go check it out, it being reported that Glazer wants Beckham b/c he has the greatest potential for marketing value within the United States.

Let's see if this thread will top last year's transfer thread :D

Only 486 more posts to go, and the season hasn't even ended yet.

Oh shítzo, off topicness....hmmm, yeah, I don't think Manchester will get Beckham unless they're willing to trade for one (two?) of their better players. There you go.

    Real Ask About Sevilla Trio

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has asked his Sevilla counterpart Jose Maria del Nido about three possible transfer targets this summer.
Two of them – Sergio Ramos and Julio Baptista scored against his side in the 2-2 draw on Saturday which spelt the end of any lingering title hopes that the Merengues had.

The other is winger Jesus Navas, although he only recently signed a new contract with Sevilla, and is set to stay at the Sanchez Barjuan.

Defender Ramos would cost Real something in the region of £18 million, and they would face competition from Barcelona for the prolific Baptista.

Yeah, we will see a ton of rumors. Marca is saying that we'll go after Robinho and three others:

Robinho will be the star signing this season. His signing could lead to Owen leaving. Luxemburgo has said that Robinho will be the best player in the world soon.

Joaquín is the second objective - with Cristiano Ronaldo as a possible second choice, although Glazer's presence puts a big question mark on this deal.

Sergio Ramos will be the defender that the club goes after. This guys is 19+ years old, plays two positions very well (central defender and rightback), and could probably come at a reasonable price.

Gerrard and Essien appear to be the leading candidates for a DM role. I think the price tag on Gerrard is way too high (45 million euros). I haven't seen Essien a great deal (mostly in Champions League play), but he looks like he could be a good pick-up.

This will be a big offseason for us because Barcelona has the players to make a long run.

Robinho will be a great pick-up. Getting Joaquin will mean that others have to go. Essien will cost just as much as Gerrard, and both are too expensive in my eyes. If we get Robinho & Ramos, then I will be very happy. Then go for a cheaper midfielder, Benefica's Manuel Fernandes perhaps, or even Baraja.

I think Baraja's best days are behind him. I agree that Robinho and Sergio Ramos would be two fantastic signings. I would try to get Joaquín becuase his desire to play for Real Madrid is as important as his skill. As for the midfield, this is a tough one. I like that fact the Essien is younger and that he has an incredible work rate.

The thing about these names is that they are all so young: Joaquín (24 in July), Sergio Ramos (19), Robinho (19? 20?), Essien (22? 23?).

Yes, but Baraja would be cheap. Actually I would like to see Mejia tried at DM. Mascherano or van Bommel would also be good, but expensive. If Beckham is sold, then getting Joaquin is a priority.

I just can't see Becks beeing sold, but of course everything is possible. For the playmakers position I would want to see Kaka as Zidanes understudy. After AC Milan win the Champions (again) he has won enough to move on with his career. Any idea how much he would cost?

As much as I would love to see Kaka playing for us, I just can't see AC Milan selling him.

Several newspapers are saying that Real Madrid's official communication saying that they are not interested in Rio Ferdinand is another "never, never, never"... Funny.

Well, I guess we have to assume that Figo would be gone.
Essien is a superb player, but I just don't see him moving anywhere but to Premiership. Same with Gerard.

Beckham moving back to Man United may sound reasonable for Glazer, but he already commited to Ferguson, and I just don't see them being in the same team.
