Absolutely wrong. Kezman is not especially fast. He is not a good dribbler. He does not have a powerful shot. He is not a good set piece taker. His one skill is finishing, and he has shown consistently that at higher levels he is simply not good enough. He has not done it consistently for Serbia, for PSV in Europe, and for Chelsea in the EPL. There's no discussion here.
Drogba, last year, was the top scorer in Europe. While he hasn't been healthy this year, he nevertheless is our top scorer (with an average minute to goal ratio), and has scored some very important goals. He is certainly an inconsistent player, but once he fully recovers from a nagging groin injury this summer, we should be able to judge him better. Kezman is simply not as good or talented.

Rumours galore on the Boerrigter transfer to either Ajax or PSV on the Twente boards.

    In English: http://www.footballnl.com/NEWS2004_5/5/news0238.htm

Now how long ago was it that I pointed out that there was heaps of talent in our Twente/Heracles A1 youth squad? A couple of months? It's a shame they noticed him outside Enschede too.

An update? He said they bought a first option. They've been saying that from the minute Alex arrived in Eindhoven.

Boy, I really can't picture Kezman coming back to psv so quickly. I bet he'll go to a Spanish side or something if he decides to get away from Stamford Bridge.

I read this yesterday and was shocked to be honest. He can do much better. No disrespect to Olympiakos or the Greek league but Davids is a still top player and still has 2 years in top flight football if he stays injury free. Hope it doesn't happen.

Sorry to take the thread off topic.

There's a lot to be discussed in what you said. We are comparing two players, so when you're saying not especially fast or not a good dribbler you're saying Drogba is significantly faster and is a better dribbler than Kezman. Maybe a little faster with the ball, however I think Kezman matches Drogba with his sprints. To me, Kezman is superior in dribbling, passing and vision hands down. Both players are good shooters of the ball Kezman's more accurate and Drogba's more powerful but I wouldn't go as much as saying Kezman doesn't have a powerful shot. You may need to see his goals with PSV.

I felt that the period of time when Kezman was given his run with Chelsea as a CF was when Robben was out and Joe Cole still on the bench at the beginning of the season. He is now mostly coming off the bench playing as a right wing or support striker which doesn't help him find himself again.

Both players aren't playing their best football right now. IMO, On form Kezman is better than Drogba.

It is an update because Rob Westerhof said that Alex wasn't financed -he didn't knew about it- by Chelsea (in Studio Voetbal last Sunday).

Where can he go then? He's nowhere needed or wanted. Barca runs well, so Davids is not a player they really need. Ajax had Blind as their coach, who haven't got a positive relationship with Davids. Also the atmophere in Holland from press and public will be quite hostile. In Greece he can make a lot of money play Champions League, and a decent competition.
Other options are mediocore clubs in England, Italy and Spain, where the salary isn't as good, and they don't play championsLeague.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a Davids fan. But realistically, his options are limited concerning a good contract.

I think Ajax would love to have Davids. Don't think they can afford him though.

we can afford him, but he'd have to want to stay in line with our strict salary structure

Last comment on an issue that's self evident.

No. Drogba is faster. There's just no arguing that.

Absolutely joke. I've watched Kezman all season. All of his attempts to dribble past EPL opposition have ended disastrously.

I believe Kezman has one or two assits this season. Not true. He is not a particularly good passer. And his vision.........certainly not vision for goal.

I've seen him play for PSV quite a bit, and no, he doesn't have a powerful shot. Kezman is a poacher.

You actually think he's anywhere near good enough to be a front forward for Chelsea? You have got to be kidding me. He has gotten chances, and has scored 5 goals in all competitions, I believe. However, the chances he has missed are so many its ridiculous. Drogba misses them too - but he puts away the important ones.

On what basis? Kezman has utterly failed to convince in Europe or for his country. He was crap for PSV in Europe too. Drogba, meanwhile, was the top scorer in Europe last year for a team that finished midtable. He is a far superior player, despite his well documented faults.
Oh, and Kezman, even for a forward, is an absolutely atrocious tackler. He was lucky not to reduce us to ten men yesterday with that scythe.

Well, Westerhof didn't do that deal, Van Raaij did, and he mentioned the option-thingy again last tuesday at Barend & van Dorp.

    :)

Not that I would be surprised if there was more to it.

I know he said that, I posted than earlier in this thread. But it's quite strange that a chairman doesn't know how one of the most important player of your squad is bought...

Well, a few weeks back Blind expresssed his interest in Davids. I am not happy with his situation at Inter right now and hope he leaves if things remain the same which is most likely to be realistic. I think there would be clubs in the English and Spanish leagues who would sign Davids. If he's smart, he would move to England or Spain even if that means he misses on the CL or takes a paycut. That is, if he wants to captain Holland should they make it to the next World Cup.

Danny Blind was yesterday on the stands in Parken (FC Copenhagen's stadium) to watch Markus Rosenberg play in the Royal League competition game FCC-Malmö FF.

According to Swedish Press, Blind was very impressed by Rosenberg who is the top Scorer of the Competition.

So maybe in the near future, Rosenberg will be joining Ajax after all.
