    Good point "Good Times",

When the player names were being announced at the beginning of the match the crowd only truly cheered for Ramirez and this was not done out of disrespect for the other.

I mentioned this over on the CDCU forum. Many of the CDCU fanbase have not followed MLS before. As a result of this many of our fans are in the getting to know you phase. Myself the exception as I have followed the league since 1996.

Pretty disappointing attendance for the game. That doesn't seem to bode well for supporting two teams at HDC. It'll be interesting to see how the Galaxy draws.

Looked terrible on TV with gaping holes in the sideline stands. Did they expect to fill the place?

I missed the game but I did get 2+ hours of programming on the Pope from ABC since I programmed my VCR.

Question--how did Simms and Carroll interact when they were both on the field? What did the DC line-up look like? Did it go to a 4-4-2 or simply keep a 3-5-2 with Olsen, Simms and Carroll in the middle?

    Thanks.

About Thiago Martins....what's his story with his former teammates.
Plenty of scuffles he was involved in, or at least two.

I believe I recall hearing one of the announcers state he didn't get along with some of his old teammates. Anyone care to enlighten me?
    Thanks

Given that Thiago showed up, and had a great time, at the first Petke Pub Quiz Night, I doubt that there are any issues between the two. It was in all likelihood one of those things that occasionally happens during games.

He also showed at the first Visions viewing with Cheyo and their wives/girlfriends and had a really good time. I spoke with him for awhile and he seemed to be a nice easy going guy. Like Dave said, just chalk it up to the heat of the moment.

I guess so, I had assumed that Thiago was well liked by the team, as he seemed to be by the fans. I should know the announcers are not completely knowledgeable, I just thought perhaps there was something I missed. Thanks though.

First of all, I was at the game. So, nice to meet Atouk and see Knave (I meant to introduce myself at the end of the game but I couldn't find you). Some (late) points from the game...

    1. No trouble from the Chivas fans. Although, it was pretty funny when we got maybe 5 (at most) chants of D.C. United off before being overwhelmed by the entire stadium. Nice to see some players recognize us, among them Boswell, Esky, and Rimando. I was a little dismayed by the fact that when Esky and Adu were going off at the end of the game and some guy pointed us out to them Adu kept walking with his head down but Esky dropped his cleats and shin pads and applauded. Although Adu looked kinda depressed (lack of an impact on the game probably) which might explain it, Esky also had his arm around him and was talking to him.

    2. Boswell started out well and only had one bad moment that I can remember. I predict he will become as good as Nelsen in the same amount of time Nelsen had (yes, I AM actually saying this, this kid had a lot of smart, quick decisions and good tackles and clearances). It sounds like some here think that he was coordinating everything in the back, he wasn't. I watched him in the second half for a little and noticed that Prideaux was telling him where to go a lot, again though, he is a great tackler and has a good foot on him. Nowak is starting to scare me with his eye for talent (Gros, Perkins, now Boswell).

    3. Overall, the backline held up well with Prideaux having a few tough spots at the beginning, but he kept his head about him and played solidly the rest of the game. Petke was also solid and plays so much better at left back.

    4. Guppy was smart and a great crosser, did well, and impressed me, but personally, I was more impressed with Quaranta. He had a bunch of great little defensive plays and from where I was, the run that set up the second goal was pure beauty (how many defenders did he beat?). When the second goal was scored I wasn't sure it went in (everybody around me was suprised too) because the build up was almost non-existent because of Quaranta's suprising run, I wish he got an assist for it. For that, and overall, I was extremely impressed with him. Gros was obviously also good, with an opportunistic finish (as someone else said, if he keeps going far post he's going to have a bunch of goals). Overall, wingers were strong, along with solid, good performances from Carroll and Olsen. Although, I wish Olsen had gotten in the attack a little more. Gomez did a great job and raped a few players, which was fun to watch.

    5. Forwards- Moreno didn't look that sharp, but had some good runs and almost scored near the end off a nice little ball from Adu. Esky was obviously limping and not full strength.

I liked what the team showed, a 2-0 away win is great.

What are you talking about, we always yell P-U-T-O at the opposing keeper when they are about to kick... and this is normal during Chivas games, not in all MFL games.

I heard quite a bit of it at the Azteca whenever Keller made a goal kick, too.

    Hey, hey, HEY!
Bosworth was a great linebacker, a budding thespian, and a very handsome man. Just ask him.

If there's no MLS game on the tube, there's no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than to pop a cold one and watch Stone Cold. The acting chops will give you chills.

Trivia note: He could have been a soccer player. He was drafted by the Tacoma Stars of the MISL in 1987.

Because the Legion 1908 was there too... and now that you bring that game up there was also a banner that read EL GIGANTE NO HA MUERTO (The Giant is not dead) which a lot of newspapers mentioned... well, that's Legion 1908 too.

Well if Yallop can make the move to coach Canada. . .I don't think it will happen though. Poland will always struggle to qualify in the modern game, relying in 02 on a Nigerian born, naturalized Pole in Olisadebe to get them through qualifying. That was their first WC since 1986. Maybe the challenge of reviving the national team into the force it was in the 70's would be appealing, but there is also the challenge of keeping a club team successful and playing for silverware every season which can be very gratifying (ask SAF or Arsene Wenger).

I just saw the headline "Gomez Out 4-6 Weeks with Knee Injury" on mlsnet.com and for a split second thought "Great, Dema must be practicing again." ;)
