Was that the bassist from Bowling for Soup congratulating Nowak after the game?

Petke, Gros, and Rimando were the best players today. I wish Freddy would have started though. Guppy did pretty well on the left. Moreno should have put his cross away.

I thought Gros was the man of the match. United was solid, not spectacular. The finishing was a little suspect at times, but they got the job done when it counted.

Chivas has got some work to do...

DC united looked good. I have a feeling they are going to destroy the rest of MLS this season. I can't wait to see them play against Pumas in the Champions Cup that is gonna be great!

Gros MOM. He played a total game and continues his fine play from last year. Gomez, while I was not impressed in the first half, came up big in the second. Other than that, a win is a win and with a big game Wed night vs. Pumas is coming up - DC needs to play a lot better. Should be fun to watch. Good job DC getting a W.

Our defense didn't look good there - with a little more experience playing together, Chivas would have made us pay for that lapse. We're giving up entirely too much space to them on the ball.

Someone call the Mullet Police for Matt Taylor.

Good lord, is there some rule that says a Mulleted Striker cannot keep the ball under the bar no matter what the circumstance?

I just got to see the second half because it took me a while to realize it was on espn.
Rimando didn't seem to be tested at all until the very few last minutes. From what I saw of Guppy he seems to be a pretty good pickup, wonder what his salary is? And Freddy should have been brought in earlier, he showed right away that he can take advantage of tired defenders.
Nice goal by Gomez, got him on my fantasy team.

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........roasted goat......tastes good

Welcome to MLS, Chivas. I love the fact that a few weeks ago Vergara was proclaiming the demise of every MLS team now that Chivas was here to rule the league....now, all of a sudden (during his halftime interview, I think), Chivas USA is on a 5-year plan????? What are they??? Communists??? Nice excuse for having a team that can't compete in MLS you wanker!!!! Enjoy feeding off of the bottom and being the worst expansion team in the league!

Good way to start the season at least on the scoresheet. Some of the players on both sides may not have been entirely focused due to the passing of the Pope just a few minutes before the game.

Re: Game thread: DC United vs. Chivas [R]

In all I say not a bad performance. Especially considering we're playing against a largely unknown team. Gros, Boswell, Carroll and Petke I think had solid performances today. And I while I'm interested to see if we can go with a backline with Petke-Boswell-Namoff will work. Guppy is putting in some good crosses and corners, I like having him in the starting XI even if we have to sub him at half or at the 60 min mark for Adu.

Thiago, he is now the hated enemy, what a whiney little B#$^% find it hard.

Classy move by Peter wearing a black armband to recognize the Pope's passing.

In case anyone didn't know Owen "decided" to skip the Barra Party to mop up a little water instead of picking up the beer.....

Over the off-season, Owen has grown-up (and older). Here he is with his dog, Stokesy.

Don't feel too bad, Owen had some help mopping.....
