We might be signing Lubos Reiter of Slovakia, older, big forward type, still in his national team squad. He made the bench for Slovakia's game against Portugal today and came on in the 65th minute.

It's been a rumor for quite some time on section 8's web site.

Incidentally, (update on the link above) Sigma Olomouc's website tongiht is reporting Reiter has signed a contract to play for Chicago.

    Re: New Forward Signing

Well, as we just learned with the Donovan incident (Leverkusen stated a few days ago that he was gone, even before LA had their press conference today), if Reiter's club says so, and even though the Fire haven't made it official, it is official.

Welcome to Chicago, Lubos. You're gonna have to work hard to gain our respect.... you're only the second most important Lubos to play for us.

    Re: New Forward Signing

BTW, is Lubos an aerial threat?

As we all know, the Fire haven't produced many goals off of headers, as it seems to have been our weakness last year (especially on corners). Could he knock a bunch in for us with his forehead?

Yes, he's tall and, from descriptions, has a strong aerial presence.

UEFA's website (I posted the link on the S8C boards) references Reiter's move. Looks like it is done.

That bit about him being the first active European national teamer to sign with MLS is not accurate. Molnar was with the Denmark squad in Euro 2000 the same season he was in MLS.

You work all night on your April Fools Day issue then have a real story come up to force you to reshuffle your front page. GRRRRRR.

Anyway, happy the deal is done, Nate the Tall becomes Nate the Benched again.

I didn't think FIFA 2005 had any Slovakian league teams... how do you plan on putting him onto your team?

He's plays in the Czech League and for the Slovakian national team. Are either of those in there?

    Re: New Forward Signing

Actually, I think Sigma Olomouc is in the Rest Of World "league". If not, I just use the Creation Centre (http://downloads.soccergaming.com/download.php?id=00009666) and create him myself.

I've updated all of the MLS clubs, created Chivas USA and Real Salt Lake and created all the USL D1 and D2 teams with the Creation Centre.

(edit: yep, Sigma Olomouc is in the Rest Of World group in FIFA 2005)

    Re: New Forward Signing

On section 8 boards, Peter Wilt responds by saying the Reiter deal fell through because they didn't get ITC in time. Says they're now looking for a striker who doesn't need to wait until the August 15 transfer window--someone like Nava or David Regis

Have you tried being an a$$hole? It can be a lot of fun. I don't know if you should rush to judgement.
