Here's new pic from the Rhinos webboard: http://rhinosfan.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=62 I looks like each of the stands will named for the body of water they are closest to: For example you are looking directly at the Ontario Stands or Lakeside, the stands on the right will be the Genesee stands or Riverside, and concrete stantions on the left, will the Erie stands or Canalside. Welcome to Brown Square.
It's beautiful! I can't wait to get up there for a match. Can you guy's believe the progress that professional soccer has made in the last 5 years. Crew Stadium,The Home Depot Center,Blackbaud Stadium. Thank's Don Garber,Phil Anschutz,Lamar Hunt. http://rhinosfan.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=62
Um, let's not forget about the Rhinos ownership group, too. Thanks Frank DuRoss, Steve Donner and Chris Economides. Lest I forget, here's a link to a photo montage with different aerial views. http://www.rhinossoccer.com/stadium/
That stadium is going to look beautiful when it's completed. When i see the Rhinos playing on tv,the crowd looks great at that baseball stadium. Your finally geting the stadium your fan's deserve.
They were not kidding about the steel going up fast! All this has been in just 2 weeks since the steel started arriving. Actually this monday comming (3/21) will be 2 weeks since the first truck. Word is that they will start the aluminum planking on Monday. I am beginning to wonder if the August opening is a very conservative prediction because of all the previous deadlines that encountered snags. I'm hoping for august 1st completion. That would allow 7 home games plus playoffs. It would be great to see the Rochester Rattlers MLL Lacrosse team get a couple home games there to see the impact it has on their attendence. Their 6 game home schedule is over on 8/13 I believe.
Any soccer stadium being built whether its for youth soccer or the professional ranks is awesome to see. Good stuff Rochester.
http://www.rhinossoccer.com/stadium/ Here's all the pictures available of the stadium from start to current standing.
The ownership is has not given a firm date. They are hoping a for a game or two in August, but have been uncommittal.
http://photobucket.com/albums/v704/dominionroc/ Click on to the above site to view 15 construction photos Of the new PAETEC Park... taken today...Saturday, March 26, 2005. The site is quite wet...all of the winter snow has melted. Temperatures should be mostly in the 50's next week. Hopefully, it will be dry also. The warmer and drier it is...the quicker the stadium will be completed. About 60% of the structural steel is up....aluminum flloor decking is completed on about 70% of the North Stands. "America's only Soccer Specific stadium located in a downtown distict" ...should be completed sometime in August 2005
Is that going to be bleacher seating? I'm just curious as you looks like you've got about twice as much steelwork as is necessary. Here's a pic of Reading's main stand during construction, with most of the reinforced concrete in place, but with much less steel. http://www.royals.org/piccies/staddec97.jpg It's a very strange kind of giddy excitement seeing your team's new ground being built. You know it's a bit sad, but it doesn't bother you. I used to stop off en route at the site when going to Reading games and see it grow bit by bit. Of course you (probably) don't have the other side of the coin - watching your old ground get demolished. That really is weird. Who knows, if I ever go back to Niagara Falls and need something to do in the evening again, I might pop along to the new place. I really enjoyed my visit to frontier field (won 3-1 v Long Island) in 2001, far more than the rather sterile MLS game in Chicago the previous week.
Their "old" ground is actually the "new" baseball stadium, so it won't be demolished any time soon. I don't think the Rhinos ever played in the old place, Silver Stadium I believe it was called. Perhaps a Rochester native can confirm or correct me on that info.
Surprisingly the Rhinos were the first event in Frontier Field. Personally, I think that was a big element in the club's original success. Fortunately, the Rhinos have made the most of it. Getting back to Silver Stadium. The Rhinos never played there. They played a few games at Fauver Stadium at the University of Rochester.
Frontier Field opened in 1996. Silver Stadium, which Frontier Field replaced, was demolished around that time, so it has been a few years. The Rhinos never played at Silver.
I believe there will be 12,500 permanent seats plus bleacher seating. With all the stadium seating, including portable bleachers, the capacity will be 17,500.
Basically, these god damn churches want more $$ for their faith based charity crap which out lorr and savior 'W insists upon..... instead of $$ for a soccer stadium that ACTUALLY PAYS TAXES !!!!!!!!!!!! So yea...... you know where I stand.......
Ok, I haven't had time to read the whole thread, but hasn't it become common knowledge among "SSS design plans" that digging a hole and pitting bleachers onto the side of such the preferable way of construction? Crew Stadium went up with the "Erector Set" mentality of just building bleachers on flat land surrounding what will be the pitch. But even Lamar Hunt as acknowledged that if he could do it over again, he'd dig a hole. Of course, he IS digging hole in Frisco, but you get my drift. Now, please accept that I am no expert on construction costs. Is it truly cheaper to build from ground up or line the sides of a "hole" when building an SSS? Tommy Mack
It's cheaper to dig a hole, and that's what they were initially going to do in Rochester. However, they discovered that the water table was high enough that digging a hole would've been a bad idea.
Wow. You hit a real homerun here. You managed to ignorantly bash Christians, Blacks, your President and an inner city charity all in one fell swoop. Brilliant. Here read up on the Housing Trust Fund that is NOT a Religious Charity rather an idea being pushed by city religious leaders for the good of the inner city in conjunction with the Mayor's ideas: Urban Housing Trust I'm hoping you are willing to look at actual information, but if by chance you won't, here's a good quote from the article: A key issue here is the writer of the article, about the Rhinos asking for the $9million more, and the constant negative spin he puts towards the Rhinos. Even in today's article about the Interfaith Action Group's press conference he did not interview a single proponent of the stadium offering only "quotes" with negative opinions of the stadium. See: Activists express outrage at Rhinos' request for $9M more The guy has attacked the stadium from the get go and has been a key in undermining just about any effort the Rhinos have put forth. If you feel so inclined send an email to: Joseph Spector and kindly ask him if the entire story is negative. Ask him if it's not entirely negative then how come not a single positive word is mentioned in his article.
I hit upon all those? wowzers.... Well, at least I'm going to hell. Can't wait for some Metro road trips up to Rochester for either some Cup games, or heavens forbid... league matches.... And in regards to that writer..... what a tosser... thank you for setting me straight. cheers mate!
Hey, I hadn't heard Rochester were a possible expansion team. I hope it happens, I've heard it is more of a European type club with deep established roots in the community than the normal American franchise model, weren't the Lalas brothers fan's. of the club in their youth?
