This can be a very interesting match. Lyon is playing some great football. They can win, but it will be a lot harder then Monaco.

Hiddink is not a happy camper apparently.

Not good news. I would have prefered Liverpool, Bayern or Inter.

Which team will be the most attacking side? What do you all think? I think in Lyon OL and in Eindhoven PSV. If the defense holds in Lyon they have a chance, but till know OL is one of the best sides in the CL, so I don't really know. Let's hope they will make it!

Yes, definitely should have had Liverpool. They have been very inconsistent this season so far in the Premiership, and I feel this would have been PSV's best chance of progression to the semi-final.

    Still, you never know.

The good news, no Milan or Juve. Also first leg is away, so if we can contain them in Lyon, there will be opportunities in Eindhoven.

From what I've seen of Lyon (and that's very limited), they're strong on attack but not the most solid defence. Contain them as much as possible in Lyon and hope for a fairly open game in Eindhoven.

I agree--Liverpool would have been the first choice but we are not facing Juve or Milan or Chelsea with Robben back

Lyon will be a great couple of games

PSV is playing very well and could easily advance

Lyon's got a very good D... when healthy. They had a crisis this year earlier and it showed.

Essien is truly a beast in the middle and Juninho is good at pulling the strings (a bit like Guily last year for Monaco).

For St-Etienne's sake, I hope you beat them. (BTW not many Lyon fans around BigSoccer, so don't expect much discussion)

Funny... that's the exact opposite of what the French media thinks. They were hoping for a bigger name for this game :)

After looking around, I've found that Caçapa is now back in the backline, thus it should regain its usual great form.

Isn't that also what the French media thought when Monaco drew PSV?
Anyway, I'd say PSV are the underdog in the games against Lyon. Then again, PSV were underdogs in 88 in the quarters against Bordeaux and again in the semis against Real.

That might be the case, but Lyon is regarded even better by the media. I guess being on their way to their 4th title in a row could do that...

People say the good news is no Milan or Juve, but I´d give psv a better chance against these sides then against Lyon. Anyone remember Nantes playing psv off the park a few years ago... I see the same happening this time.

Which is fine, I wouldn´t want psv in the semi´s.

Lyon has to be favored--i do not doubt that but PSV made Monaco look very ordinary

Lyon will make for great games like i stated earlier--I would not underestimate PSV

Lyon has scored 3 only more goals than Monaco but are far better defensively. Lyon plays a lot of low scoring ties so if PSV can get a fast start it will help

It's definitely do-able. Luckily PSV will be the underdogs.

Best of luck to PSV. You know that a good number of Koreans are behind you guys:)

(dang, I sound like someone who's jumped on the bandwagon :( )

This will be good is PSV plays well. We seen what Lyon did to Bremen. Bremens not a bad team Deutscher meister last season, so PSV will have to play very good, but i think they will do it(hopefully)=)

He would have preferred a side that's better known in Holland.

I'm awed at the thought of actually prefering a draw of Milan or Juventus to Lyon.

Listen, Lyon are a very fine side, and capable of spectacular things (as we saw against Bremen), but lets not get carried away. Not a knowledgable person in the world would claim that they have the same level of talent in their squad as a Milan or Juventus.

Lyon starts some very solid players, but if Sylvan Wiltord strikes more fear into your heart than Shevchenko or if Juninho scares you more than Nedved you probably need to reconsider.

Lyon are a very organized side who play some very good football, but it is certainly not mission impossible for PSV. Lyon is simply a more cohesive version of Monaco with more talent in central midfield with Essien and Juninho. PSV will need to play some intellegent football and be patient for their chances, but I think that with their personnel (Van Bommel and Cocu can hold their own in the middle) PSV should feel very solid about their chances in this tie.

the draw of Lyon makes people fantacise the picture of the semi-final...

    That's all.

If you got Milan or Juventus..it's so so logical if we fail..

Lyon won't be easy to beat, after all they've won the French title 3 years in a row with pretty much the same team.

On the other hand Monaco had to revamp their team from almost scratch. The two are very different.

On the other hand PSV probably have similar levels of talent, so it's a good matchup with no clear winners.

If I were Hiddink I'd pack the midfield and stop Lyon from playing. They seem to be a momentum team, so stifling them and kicking Juninho out of the game might allow for a counter attack or set piece goal.

    Definitely winnable by PSV.

PSV beat Lyon 1-0 in a friendly tournament in Korea(heavy rain),but i don't know if that's any reference to follow by.Also PSV had Kezman & Robben back then.

PSV need to play a "tight" defense to have any chance because Lyon don't shine against "tight" defenses.
