Now, THIS is the real beauty of GIO! Not whether he can or cannot produce, but the fact that the mention of his very name alone causes acrimony. Eric D is already blowing a gasket and no one from the team has even expressed an interest in GIO. No other player gets everyone so worked up. It makes for amusing boards. Personally, I know GIO couldn't start for us & I have doubts about his skills at age 31 in an ever-improving league. Still, I guess a tryout couldn't hurt. If he bombs, so what? No $$$ loss.

Of course, if Gio comes back, I expect Roy Myers to return almost immediately.

Along with Miles Joseph & Jeff Zaun & Edsucko, too.

in terms of gio getting older, i dont think thats an issue,,,most of his goals were from sitters , headers, and confusion in the box. I dont think instinct deminishes with age

But quickness does. Takes longer for the neurons to connect, longer for the muscles to react.

Then do me a favor. Talk to Teddy Shiringham, Stefan Effenberg, & Ryan Giggs. Ask them if their abillities on the pitch for their club team has diminished, since it looks like they are still able to run and score goals

Oh yes and Mark Messier for the NY Rangers is on a conditioning program and he is still skating on the ice pretty well. Amazing for a 41 year old huh.

OK, GIO17 M.D. Are you seriously suggesting that athletic ability doesn't diminish with age?

And by the way, don't ask Teddy, ask a more impartial judge, Alex Ferguson, who apparently thought his abilities had diminished sufficiently to decide that he couldn't contribute to Man U anymore. He is now at a lesser club.

And don't ask Stefan, ask Mr. Hitzfeld, who apparently felt that his abilities had diminished, and shipped him off to lowly Wolfsburgh.

And of course, Giggs is only 28.

Gio, you retard, stop embarrassing yourself. And by the way, I was not suggesting that Gio was too old. I was simply responding to another poster who suggested that Gio's instincts wouldn't decline with age. To get at some of those loose balls in the box, you also need quickness. And, despite the medical journals you're reading, quickness DOES decline with age. I don't actually know whether Gio's quickness has begun to decline yet, and wasn't even suggessting that.

By the way, how many games have you seen Gio play in the last 2 years, since you seem to be so confident in his abilities?

I'm not saying that I am confident, but someone who is 31 years old is not washed up and with certain medical technologies out there today and with strict programs and dietary restrictions, I believe Gio could get back to top fitness in no time.

They say between the ages of 28 thru 32 you are still in your prime as a professional athlete. So I believe Gio will be healthy enough to get out there and do his thing.

It all in the conditioning of the person. If certain players in certain sports keep up their workout habits during the off-season as well as if they haven't been a serious competition they can still go out there and perform.

No, but you did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

For Chrissakes, I'd rather have front row seats to see Billy Walsh and Eddie Kirwan perform the Nutcracker Suite en tutu, than be dragged kicking and screaming into the Metro past of Rorshack blotted jerseys, the mind numbingly slow pace accentuated by down counting time, 20 foot astroturf bounces, and last but not least the Gio and Jheri Curl show sloshing around in the muddy puddles of the swamp. F|_|CK THAT.

    Take my Brian Bliss,

    PLEASE!

Lesser club? Last time I checked, Surs and Scum were tied in the table at 19 points each.

Don't be silly. Are you suggesting that Spurs are as big a club as United? Do the best players in the world ask to go to Utd or Spurs more often? It's cute though that you've picked an English team to support and defend against meanies.
