I saw 'Tyson' a few yrs. back w. Pachuca and gotta say the guy is kinda cool to watch, way small and powerful, never stops motoring and, yea, he is mini-Tyson. Question: is Carlos Pavon the same one playing for Cruz Azul? If yes, check his stuff. Good skills.
Guevara got a red card early on for elbowing Beasley, and Honduras never really threatened the entire match. It was a pretty dominating preformance. Besides Convey, Mastroeni also played last time.
telemundo.com confirms it's newcastle and olympiakos... silver lining is you could see philapakos play??
well there goes all my hope of watching this game, bad enough i was going to have to watch the spanish feed.
yeah, me too, I don't get it, I thought telemundo and ussf were on the same wavelength... at least bigsoccer posters did a superior job with the colombia match, so I'll tune in for pbp here!!
Re: USA vs. Honduras Taking a bus makes the most sense and it's about the same time as flying. Think about the time needed for the team to load up the bus, drive to the airport, pass security, and wait around for everything to get loaded on the plane. The flight is about an hour. Then they have to unload the plane, get back on the bus, drive to the hotel or the stadium. I don't see any problem with taking the bus. BTW, I've made that drive many times from Denver. Out here in the West, it's considered a pretty easy trip.
Guevara's red came at the very end of the first half. By then we were already two goals up after dominating play.
Did I miss something in the past 24 hrs.? LA Times 3/19/05: "The U.S. men's national soccer team will play Guatemala today at Albuquerque in its final warmup match before World Cup qualifying...." Guess that visa snafu w. Hondurans got out of hand. Maybe someone should e-mail El Pescadito and give him the heads up on the re-sched.
Is it too early for a USA starting squad to be listed somewhere or will we only know when it appears on the FSC screen minutes before the match per usual? If Cannon isn't between the pipes I have a whole bunch of nasty letters and e-mails to send and I would like to get a head start. It isn't that I insist he gets to play for the Nats but rather if he isn't ever going to they should release him back to the Rapids (like weeks ago) already.
I see through my Directv control: UEFA Cup "Newcastle- Olympiakos", which is a game i already watched on GolTv, twice..... and even worse do not find anything (at least from today) anywhere tehy are going to show the US match on Telemundo..... Bummer...
This: http://www.coloradorapids.com/News/...ils.asp?ID=1063 Says all four Rapids in camp are starting but I don't see their source for that and don't expect the team's site to be perfectly objective. ;>)
Here's MY lineup: ------------------------------Cannon--------------------------- Albright-----------Borchers---------------Marshall--------Convey -----------------------------Zavagnin-------------------------- --Mullan---------------------------------------------Dempsey-- ------------------------------Mathis--------------------------- ---------------Ching-----------------------GAM---------------- Subs: Kotschau, Martino, Ralston, Mastroeni, & Twellman. Pick: USA 2 Honduras 0. Goals by GAM & Ching.
LA Times has Eddie Pope (groin) and Frankie (ankle) injured and Mullan with a mild ankle sprain. Take it for what it is worth. As previously noted, they also have us playing Guatamala
Ivan Guerrero is the only regular starter from WCQ here for Honduras. He should be #23. Honduras couldn't get visas for Dennis Ferrera, Darwin Pacheco, Mario Berrios, Asthor Henriquez, Cristian Garden, Edgar Nunez and Luis Ramirez. Since none competed in WCQ I can see how the confusion came up. Garden is still listed on the roster. Sergio Mendoza, Erick Vallecillo, Junio Morales and Walter Hernandez were replacements for these guys with visa problems. Mendoza started the last 3 WCQ's. Vallecillo and Hernandez were only in the very last WCQ when Honduras used a bunch of newbies. Morales didn't play in any WCQ's. Marin, Nunez, Lopez, and Sabillon either had a few starts or several bench appearances during WCQ'ing. So the guys that played in WCQ'ing here's their uniform #'s from then. 3 Figueroa, Maynor 5 Marin, Elmer 11 Nunez, Milton 12 Hernandez, Walter 15 Lopez, Walter 15 Sabillon, Mauricio (also used 23) 16 Mendoza, Sergio 17 Vallecillo, Erick 23 Guerrero,Ivan (used 19 first round, but 23 all 6 semi-final games) These guys didn't play in WCQ'ing GK Enamorado, Henry GK Garden, Christian GK Morales, Junior D Reyes, Milton M Gomez, Mario M Gonzalez, Elkin M Moran, Carlos F Costa, Denilson F Velasquez, Wilmer http://www.national-football-teams.com/php/land.php?landid=82 according to this site, here's the players clubs Figueroa, Maynor Honduras-Olimpia Mendoza, Sergio Honduras-Real_Espana Sabillon, Mauricio Honduras-Marathon Vallecillo, Erick Honduras-Real_Espana Velasquez, Wilmer Honduras-Olimpia Guerrero,Ivan USA-Chicago Hernandez, Walter Honduras-Platense Lopez, Walter Honduras-Olimpia Marin, Elmer Honduras-Olimpia Reyes and Velasquez are the only player not from WCQ'ing listed on that site. So about 7/18 here may be getting their first cap, or their first cap in a long time with Reyes & Nunez without current clubs on that site according to olimpia's site http://www.clubolimpia.com/plantel.html Lopez isn't on the team I'm still trying to track down the clubs of their new players.
Re: USA vs. Honduras I guess the USA National Team isnt at the level of having a charter plane - like say most other sports pro teams in the US? On the other hand I guess the team bus is more like football away games in Europe. Maybe there will be team bonding on the bus?
