http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=327616&cc=5901 AC does have the potential to be an Arsenal and England legend....so far he is off to a great start, but does he want to stay with the Gunners?
he must be unsure about staying. otherwise that meeting wouldnt have taking place. is it for money? tropheys? it cant be for his reputation. i reckon most people rate him as the best left back in the world. with the new stadium coming and the money wenger is promised arsenal will surely be a stronger team next year. i dont think he'll leave
It is a tough one to call. It all depends on whether Wenger still thinks Cole is committed to the Arsenal cause. Personally, I think his transfer might be a blessing in disguise. It shows that Wenger will not accept players who are not 100% behind the club/him, shake things up a bit and provide a wad of cash for much needed changes.
Wenger has never really been one to keep player that WANTS to go. He was willing to let Vieira leave this summer had the money worked out and Pat really wanted it. He certainly didn't stand in Anelka's way once Nic made it clear he wanted "bigger and better" things.
Good point. Not meaning to take things TOOO off topic but he did also say that if Jose really wants to leave all he has to do is 'come and knock on my door'.
If he goes to Chelsea, he will have to fight his place with Bridge. And there will be no guarantee that Mourinho will not go and find another left back even with him present. Look at what happened to Parker, and think about what which could have happened to him had he stayed in Charlton. Cole has been our most improved player this season. I wouldn't have dared to say this last season, but this season he has been one of the best left backs in the world. However, if he likes Chelsea so much he is more than welcomed to pack his bags and go. Loyalty and blood are priceless; but does he still have those with him?
Just from what I've read, if Cole was the one who initiated the talks, then he might have been using it as a negotiating tactic, since part of the reason (according to Kenyon) was that he and his agent were unhappy with the way talks were going with Arsenal. By doing this (even though it was stupid and childish and against the rules), Cole could go back and say "hey, we've met with Chelsea and they're interested!" That way he could both return to Arsenal and get the big pay day.
Cole hasn't had anything like a great season, and how do you work out that he has been our most improved player this season? Improved from what? He was already world class as shown by his display during the european championships. In fact he was a lot better last year. I really don't see where you are coming from, again.
