    We can do this!

    All we need is a goal...just one...and it's anyone's game.

    Positive thoughts. Positive!

Positive is right. It is still there for the taking and can be anyone's game. Come on you Red Devils!!!

If we get one early it's really going to be on.

Definitely. If we score early Milan will become unsettled..knowing they need to score two more if we get the 2nd away goal.

I am going to go crazy if Fortune starts

We need two strikers, no doubt. Ruud and Rooney are the top chices. Its gotten to be without Rooney we look tame.

    ---------------Ruud---------------------------------
    --------------------Rooney--------------------------
    Giggs---------------------------------CRon----------
    ------------keano---O'Shea--------------------------
    Heinze------silvestre----Rio-----------G. neville
    --------------Howard-------------------------------

My thinking is we need to be able to go tic for tat against the Milan midfield. We were good on the counter attacks with cafu and compnay upfield.

No Paul Scholes? You should be shot.

Hopefully SAF wont bring off Ronaldo like he did last time....he should play the whole game....I wish Alan Smith had full match fitness he would have stopped so many Milan plays.....but i am confident ManU will win 2-0....remember what happened to Milan last year ...they were leading in the first leg and then lost 4-0....I forgot which team they played against....so we have a glimmer of hope....

DS, your BST seems to be right, but the game is the usual 14:45 (2:45pm) ET.

Milan give up more goals at home than they do on the road.
We should go at them and cram it down their throats from the outset and keep it up all game long. Its time we came out looking like a strong attacking side. There is no tomorrow.

If we were to lose 1-0 in one leg, it's good it happened at home. Of course we have to score one, but thereafter it means the away goals rule is permanently in our hands. 2-1, 3-2, 4-3 (I wish!), would all take us through.

So we just need to look at it as a must-win. I'm doubtful Milan will play too much of a defencive game because they'll be aware of the danger of conceding late and letting United go into extra time in the ascendancy. It's good, coz we all saw Palace's defence shut up shop for the entire second half on Saturday, and if they can do it, Milan definitely could.

I say we go for the obvious 4-4-2 line-up:

    Howard
    Gary, Mikael, Rio, Heinze
    Ronaldo, Keane, Scholes, Giggs
    Ruud, Rooney

On paper it's probably our best line-up, and it's funny how rarely we use it even with the players available. Ruud seemed still off it on Saturday, but we just have to hope he rises to the occasion. He is, after all, THE striker of the Champions League.

I can't predict anything here, it will be tough. If Milan successfully defend as they did 2 weeks ago and hold on to the ball as well, I say our hopes are slim, unless we see some moments of individual brilliance from the players who surely have to be on the top of their games: Rooney, van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo, Giggs and Scholes.

God Bless Manchester United (coz we play "The Day After Tomorrow", get it? :) )

Even a late goal will do as long as we can score and maybe go into extra time
1-0 up then the age of the ACM defenders could be a factor.
I would not want PKs though given the record of the English teams when it comes to PKs.

A late goal would put us in the perfect position psychologically to whip them in extra time.

Cant wait until the game. Hopefully Fergie will go with the 4-4-2, as it is where our strengths lie, and will allow us to be more attack minded. Going to need the defense to be at top notch, as obviously we will be more focussed on attacking play, and we will need that solid foundation at the back. Will be tough, but i really am looking forward to this game.

That really HAS to be the lineup for this one, though I might even take a risk and put Scholes in for JOS.

Great post...that is an excellent lineup and, like you, I don't know why we don't play it more. We really have to play the 4-4-2 if we expect to beat Milan at the San Siro.

I'm pretty sure that any of us would take penalties at this point, given that it would be a great effort. At the beginning of the tie, I had reservations about that manner of ending things for another reason: Dida.

I'm not overwhelmed by him as an all-around GK but his 6'7" frame has proven tough to beat from the spot.

Put me down for AC scoring first and then we come back with the 2 we need in the 2nd half (shades of 99 :D ) - Rooney and Ruud

Then surely it'll be Saha & Smith (the thus solidfying his position as United legend;)).

Good luck chaps. Hope you go through.

Not sure about JOS in mid. Surely SAF will go with his most trusted and pick scholes in a game like this.

EDIT: Mods can you delete my post above as I see this was already posted in the transfer thread and I have posted this in the wrong place
