I started a new training program, and I arrive at the field at around 3:00 and stay until 7:30 5 or 6 days a week, and I'm loving it. The thing is, I've perfected PKs and am doing the soccer specific program at www.athletesperformance.com (highly reccomended) but what else should i do in those spare hours?

I decided to myself that this was going to be my breakout season, and by the end of it, no one will be able to touch my skill, speed, vision, etc. Any suggestions?

When I train alone, I work on some of the things you don't get a second chance to practice much in games: Volleys, running while shooting from distance, and chipping. There are many many other things you could work on, but these are the things I really work on, and when it comes outdoor season, it usually shows!

Where is the soccer program on the website? Do you have to pay for it (how much)? Is it worth it? What does it entail??? I am curious. I would love to do this program, as long as it is not to expensive. Give me your thoughts on it.

This program was originally designed for MLS, ODP, and the USA National teams. It is extremely well done, worth every penny, very near perfected, and I have to say, in my 8 years of soccer, the best program I've ever seen or done.
    It has 9 sections :
    - Movement Prep Warm Up
    - Linear Speed
    - Multi-Directional Speed
    - Explosive Power
    - Strength
    - Pre-Habilitation / Injury Prevention
    - Energy System Development / Conditioning
    - Regeneration / Recovery from Training Sessions
    - Nutrition

The greatest thing about this is how it is laid out to avoid injury. It comes with an instructional DVD, a workout program, and a take-along book that can be carried anywhere, with descriptions of workouts. It has a 12 week "prescription" program, and if you don't have time for that, it has an in-season workout, laid out with which excercises to do, how many reps, where it should burn, and what it should help. It is a very well done program, and you will see that it is professionally done if you get it.

Now what I would hoping this thread would produce-
By the spare hours I have, I mean that I have hours alone in which I don't know what to work on. Don't worry about me getting burned out, I get burned out at school, and this is relief for it. I love every minute of it. There's only so much that you can do easily on your own, and I am looking for suggestions

I would say the best thing for you to do would be to find a training partner to play one on one with. That way you can practice all the new skills you have focused on, and have them well refined for the season. Pele said you must execute a move at least 1000 times at game speed in order for it truly to become a move in your repetoire.

I have a really good friend who could probably be a training partner, but I doubt he'd stay there the whole time, I guess some is better than none, eh?

it's 30 US Dollars, you CAN go to their facility, and if I lived in Arizona I would, but they also have a DVD/Book, which is still a great program.

I'm not sure if they can send it to Canada, but I am willing to bet they can. I showed it to my coach, and our whole team was required to get it, that's how good it is.

Their customer support: seth@gofit.net He'd probably be best to ask if they can ship to canada. If I were you, I'd just try to go through the checkout/shopping cart, and see if it says anything. If not, I'd assume they can ship it.

Does anyone know where I can get EPL games, or other high level games on video (or watch on the net)? My parents believe that TV is of the devil (jk) but we only have 5 channels, including KJZZ, a local channel that the Utah Jazz owner started, so I can see soccer about... twice a year.

Another reccomendation, they have (small) hurdles available at the website, and they are used in the progam, but if I were you, I'd look at the picture enough to know how to make some out of PVC pipe at minimal cost.

They also have a self-massage section at the end where they use a roll of styrofoam, and I've tried it on the styrofoam. It feels dang good, but if you're price conscious at all, a roll of bubble wrap works fine.

Go to www.soccerpulse.com, become a member, go to the soccer video section and post a request for live streams(on saturdays and sunday cuz that's when the matches are). Some times they have threads with lots of streams that u can watch.

You can do a bunch of stuff, I don't know what is included in the dvd, so I don't exactly know what you will have already done, but you could always juggle, that is a classic way to burn hours, and you can never juggle too much. You can work on one on one moves, performing them as fast as possible at a full run, trying to mimick a game situation, and once you have a fair amount of moves mastered, put them a few together in training and just be creative, change them up a little, be comfortable with the ball. You can find a wall, and strike the ball one touch over and over, working your off foot, practicing stuff like bending the ball with the outside/inside of your foot. Best of luck

    Hey dasoccerplayafosho,

Your training ideas are an awesome idea but how do you do this? On weekdays? I mean 3-7 pm i'd never be able to go out and play that long because of all my school homework, etc. Do you go out right when you come home from school? Then just do homework later that night? Also thiers snow on the ground now =(..Any tips?

2 practices a week + 1 game - not a lot, right? So I also practice on my own a lot. On weekdays I go to the field right after school at 3.15, practice for 2.15-2.30 hours, then go home, get my meal and do my homework  and all that. Then at 9 o'clock I usually run 7 or 8 km it takes me a little more than half an hour. Then it's my free time ;)
