    Nats wax Chivas 7-0.

Two each for Noonan and Twellmann. Mathis, GAM, and Albright chip in.

For Chivas, injuries to Zuniga and Armando Begines.

This *might* indicate how hated Chivas is by the rest of MLS. Sounds like our MLS boys laid it down hard! Excellent.

That's a shellacking! I recall other Nats vs MLS team scrimmages in the past, but I can't remember a anything that lopsided. I wonder if the Nats were simply that good, or if Chivas USA really was that bad.

Boy, you just say "Mexico" to our guys and they get all fired up!

Man, that was a real asskicking that I suspect says more about Chivas than it does the guys in this camp.

    Anyone have any lineups?

That's a given in any Nats scrimmage against an MLS club (many of whose players are also looking just as hard to make an impression on Arena). But, as I said, I don't recall anything as lopsided as this was.

    hello all-
I'm a producer for Fox Soccer Channel and I will be shooting with the National team this weekend for a campaign that I'm working on. In short, I will be showing the players doing different tricks with the ball. I need to tell the National team's PR guy a list of players I want to use. I want to hear from you the fans on what players you would like to see in this promo. Who do you think are the most popular players, which players have the most skills with the ball, etc. Your comments will be lots of help. Thank you.

You've posted this twice already - including once on its own thread. This post does not belong here on this thread.

Can we talk about the scrimmage please?

What an awful day for Chivas. Spanked in the game, the keeper off to get an MRI, and a defender likely out for weeks with a broken collarbone. Ouch.

It sounds like Noonan and Twellman showed well. They have such a tough hill to climb to get into the squad; I bet they were very fired up.

Chivas sent out a release with its lineup, but not the U.S.

Glad to hear about the beatdown, and the good performances by Twellman and Noonan. Could Noonan be the RW we're looking for? I think he pretty much faded out when played they for the Revs but perhaps this is a way for him to help the team. Competition for forward will be tough as it is.

Yikes. It's always great to see the Nats cruise, even in a friendly, but this is embarrasing for the Goats. It makes me wonder: we've all been assuming (at least many have assumed) that ChivasUSA will be insanely popular with the Mexican population in the LA area. But will this be true even if they suck ass? I mean, are the kind of people who would never root for an MLS team but would support Chivas despite their MLS status going to be excited to watch a crappy team suffer constant beatdowns? I'm skeptical.

I realize this is all hypothetical, and there might be some crossover (i.e., people might support Chivas USA who weren't Chivas supporters in the first place), but the team is also going to be hampered by its ethnic preference. If you cut down on the amount of talent available to you for any reason--ethnic or otherwise--you're shooting yourself in the foot.

That got more OT than I intended. Anyway, go Nats. Also, nice to see Clint in the action, though it looks like he might have crapped out early.

It's far too early to tell if this is the case, but this is the reason why many MLS fans (myself included) were quite content with the Goats plan to "prefer" latinos & spanish speakers (in general). But again, far too early to tell.

I agree with your notions.. I think Chivas will instantly supplant United as the team everyone wants to beat.. Starting from Vergara's yapping from the git-go all the way to their distinct lack of anything having to do with the US, it will earn them instant hatred status..

I fully expect Chivas to struggle this season.. I think in due time they will stamp out their niche in this league, but it will take a long time to get used to the MLS style of play, the oppressive heat in the summer and the American player in general..

I'm looking forward to them getting their arses handed to them..

With that being said, I fully envision them playing well above their heads on April 2nd against United and pulling out an emotional win..

I couldn't agree more. I have watched Noonan since he began at IU. He started there on the wings when he was a rookie. They had a similar situation... too many good forwards, a good postion to be in. He did well on the wings, and I really would like to see Arena give him a chance to prove it on the NT. He has a great vision when it comes to passes and can play solid defense as well, a character trait instilled in all IU players. I hope that he gets the opportunity to see some wing time. I think we might all be impressed.

The US National team put seven goals past an Orlando Perez defense?

    I won't believe it.

too much competition at forward? are you guys kidding me? there are roster spots wide open and to be won for us at the forward spot. obviously EJ is grabbing one by the reins, but everyone after that ............
