    With this squad you just don't know. Hopefully they'll respond to Rafa's kick up the arse and develop some consistency.

    Thats true....despite some poor performances this season, there were also extremely impressive games so this match up and this team can really go either way. It all depends on the situation I think. Leverkusen, even though they are having a slightly better run of form than Liverpool as of late are pretty much in the same position. THe thing about Leverkusen is they perform real well under preasure, especially in big competitions but if Liverpool are having a good day they can definetley get a win at home and then go for a tie in der Bayer Arena.

    Really? Like when? 2000, maybe, when they needed a point at Unterhaching on the last day to win the league and lost, allowing Bayern to win it? Or in 2002, perhaps, when they needed three points from the final three games to win the league, but lost two and drew one, allowing Dortmund to win it? That was the year they also lost in two cup finals (DFB-Pokal and Champions League), thereby achieving the rare distinction of finishing second in every competition they entered.

    Or like three years ago when we played them in the semi's and they came back from behind twice to keep us from having a two goal lead, and thus knocking us out of the competetion?

    In my point of view,its all about luck!!!lets say Juve,Acmilan ,inter,chelsea,monaco,liverpool,lyon,bayern all pass to the next round!if we do get drawn against lyon or monaco,then we could have a good chance of reaching the semis,wont we??if we get drawn against the other teams,we will be underdogs ,but on our day we can defend and attack like any other team in europe,specialy at home!our defence every day is looking stronger and stronger ,and in the C.L,if you have a good defence,you have good chance of reaching the finals.

    I must agree, I think LFC will get past Bayer, and from there it will be all skill and LUCK!

    Luck as in drawing against "simpler" teams.

    I think we will get as far as Fernando can take us. I mean, the guy has been in how many Champions League Finals? With two clubs, no less.

    So hopefully having him in the stands will help.

    =====

    Is this post up to the standards of this thread?

    BTW, I will enjoy seeing Liverpool FC being competitive in the semifinals. Especially if it means playing another English club. I think (using my latent feminine intuition) that we will avoid one until then.

    Here's hoping for Lyon, PSV or Monaco (fancy beating you all again) or an out-of-form Juventus in the next round (providing they sneak past Real Madrid). Although having Real Madrid would be a big fixture.

    Trouble is Nando can't take us. He can't play in the CL.

    Hence the:

    Turn up your sarcasm meter. My post was a despairing cry about the amount of piffle on this thread.
