As sweet as that DVD might be.... I would suggest to handle first things first: www.shareholdersunited.org
I have never seen him play, but have heard he was just ridicously AMAZING! I would love to see those DVDs.
"Cantona moved to Bordeaux on loan and then to Montpellier where he won the French Cup. He returned to Marseille for a time but was transfered to Nimes. During a game he threw the ball at the referee, having been angered by one of his decisions. The French FA banned him for a month. Cantona responded by insulting them once again, and his ban was increased to 2 months. Cantona didn't appreciate the ban and decided to retire from football." hahaha Cantona rocks. http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery...3f62?tname=eric-cantona&hl=cantona&sbid=lc01a
I know I might be banned for life from Arsenaldom, but I saw a few clips of him in the movie, "Veronica Guerin". WOW, just an unbelievable talent.
Even though he was incredibly controversial, Cantona was really one of those players that transcended the game. It sounds cheesy, but he was more than just the player on the field. He made everyone around him better and had a real aura. I really wish I'd gotten to see more of him while he was playing. If he could have had the same impact on the international game, everyone would rank him with Pele, Maradona, and Cruyff. Also his lack of longetivity hurts his image with other fans, but I was glad that he went out on top, on his own terms (relatively speaking), playing for the club he embodied.
I want to buy this but my DVD player won't play it. Any ideas on how to fool it into playing these UK bases DVD's.
i thought DVD player on PCs were region free, but don't quote me on that. also, you could try to get a kind soul in the UK to convert the DVDs onto VHS
Whatever! I can take it. I swear my honesty is not appreciated or respected on BigSoccer. Also civility, good sportsmanship/class, or respect are reasons for people to spit on you.
Like I said, big deal. Many people on BigSoccer are just rude and fake. I'm a big boy, I can handle anything. I don't swear at people or launch personal attacks against other BigSoccer members.
DVD drives on computers are not all "region free", but most can be made to be that way. Almost every DVD drive and player has a hack for making it region free and turning off macro-vision. I think what we are dealing with here though is not "regions" but "broadcast standards". If that's the case then here's a quick primer on North AM and European braodcasting standards and how it relates to watching DVDs, etc... N.A. video is recorded and played back at 29.97 frames per second. This standard is called NTSC. Europe is on the PAL standard for video, which is recorded and played back at 24fps. That 5.97 frames per sec makes a big difference if you try to play a PAL dvd or vhs tape on NTSC equipment. This means is that you have to have a playback and viewing equipment for the specific standard of the media you are watching. So, normally if you want to watch a Cantona VHS or DVD from the UK you have to have a PAL DVD player or VCR and PAL television. The way to get around this to watch PAL media in N.A. is to have a "multi region" VHS or DVD player that converts the PAL signal to NTSC internally and sends the converted signal to your NTSC television. A fine example of this is the Philips DVP-642 (69.99 at CompUSA) has an internal converrter that will playback either NTSC or PAL DVDs and play it back on either NTSC or PAL television. If I were a Man U fan I would buy one of these DVD players immediately so I can watch ANY Man U dvd available no matter what country it's released in.
BTW - I ordered the Cantona set from Amazon.co.uk. only to find out that the release has been pushed back until April 11th. It's priced at 15 quid, or approx $30. Bargain price.
Everyone should Rep jammy now, he always has such cool info on United products. Special thanks for the headsup on the dvd player, I'll look at it.
Thanks is enough. I'm just a freak for this stuff, but I'm also cheap and want the best deal possible. That dvd player is the best bargain out there. It's got everything you need in a dvd player, plus the bonus of playing any region, PAL or NTSC dvds which means you can watch any dvd from anywhere. One more thing it does...it's plays DiVX. SO if you like to download Bittorents of Match of the Day or BBC documentaries like the ones listed on the Maxxed forums this is a dvd player that can play them if you burn them to cd or dvd. Not band for $70 eh? BTW - there was a 2 dvd set of Cantona material on Ebay about 3 months ago. Covered his whole career including the Munich Match after he retired. I emailed one of the winners for a trade and he has agree. I'll offer it up for trade once I get it.
