42879 Davids and Gullit about the possible midfield configurations: https://voetbalflitsen.nl/nieuws/bjw75e/davids-gullit-oranje-schouten
I saw this. Davids and Gullit I Love them as players, but I disagree with many of their views I don’t know what they see in De Roon who has really done nothing positive in the Orange shirt? He's simply useless with the ball. Just not good enough for this level. Schouten I like what I saw from him, and he had a very strong season at PSV with the ability to play CB too is impressive. Jordy Yes De Roon NO!
43118 In "de Telegraaf" Driessen continues: "As Feyenoord's trainer-coach, Slot propagated the Dutch School in everything. Hopefully, national coach Ronald Koeman will follow his example with the Dutch national team at the European Championship in Germany. During his presentation, Koeman said that he would pursue Feyenoord's football under Slot. Little or nothing has come of it. Not during the finals of the Nations League, not during the European Championship qualifiers or the last friendly matches against Scotland and Germany. Judging by the tactical choices, Koeman has parked those intentions to play Slot football in a corner," concludes the journalist. Yeah, say that again.
Frenkie should be fit in time https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/5454...erste-groepswedstrijd-nederlands-elftal-op-ek
We have walker and Stones who are both world class plus rice isn't far off. We probably have the best squad in Europe along with france
Walker has incredible pace still at the age of 34 but I don’t think he is a World Class player. John Stones World Class no way. Always hurt and slow
You don't need an all world class selection to win the trophy, though it would be nice to watch. England has a mixture of a few key world class players supplemented by very good players. But the have a Koeman clone as a coach, so ...
Southgate is below Koeman, but truthfully the English Press does him no favors with their overrated analysis of English team and its players.
Incredible it took an injury to get him out of the team. Certainly an important player for Atalanta at Club level, but he’s been completely out of his depth for Oranje. Absolutely shocking that De Boer, Van Gaal, and Koeman don’t see this. Several other much better prospects for Oranje.
With De Roon out, that means three more players from the provisional squad will be cut … one has got to be a GK (Olij). Gravenberch is an easy choice to be dropped (not enough playing time recently). Last player chopped will likely be Maatsen, but if he plays awesome and wins the UCL with Dortmund, I can see De Vrij will be the odd man out.
If you are Koeman would you start with a 5-3-2 or a 4-3-3?? I would start a 4-3-3 because we have 2 of the best centerbacks in the world, and I don't see the point in playing with 3 central defenders
4-3-3 to me... Ake and Virgil are top-tier CD's, they should be able to handle most challenges. Van de Ven (LB) and Dumfries (RB), both are fast and physical. Mickey may not have the repertoire to press forward, but he and Ake can interchangeably switch during the build up. Blind in LB would scare me a lot, yes he can send nice long-balls forward, but his lack of speed will be targeted in defense, and eventually be dearly punished. 5-3-2 makes sense when protecting a lead, and hitting the opponent on the deadly counter-attack, preferably with fresh legs (Bergwijn coming off the bench).
this is utter nonsense, Maatsen has played well throughout the CL, why he needs to perform well in the final only to to be selected. He shud be starting ahead of blind and I know koeman won’t do this because he is a dumb ass
Gakpo- Brobbey Simons Maatsen- Reijnders- koopmeiners - Dumfries Van dijk- Schouten-De ligt verbruggen note, Schouten in that dual DM role and dropping in the backline
I would drop Bergwijn, Wijnaldum to keep Maatsen and add Zirkzee. Of course it is a bit unbalanced but I feel the team will be better with better quality players.
Get a grip. If Blind stays on the team, it will be as a left CB in either a two or three man back line. He won't be playing FB as he's not been in that position all season long for Girona. Even Koeman is not that stupid.
My Oranje starting XI: Verbruggen Dumfries, Virgil, Aké, Maatsen (or vdVen) Frenkie, Koopmeiners, Reijnders Malen, Gakpo, Depay Thats a good team that can make the QF, but then we meet Portugal and we're going out
That would be my line-up as well... though Memphis and Gakpo may have to interchange. Looks like Gakpo had been told by Koeman to focus on LW. If Memphis is fit and in rhythm, he will be the main ST. Otherwise, Weghorst or Brobbey, gulp... I can't stand for either for a long period of time, both are more suited coming in as a pinch-hitter in a crunch time. Bring on Portugal... time for Oranje to win it next time out. Just basic law of average
Whoa... Gravenberch in, but Q. Timber is out. Koeman is a bad, bad boy. No Olij or Maatsen as expected.
Olij , Timber and Maatsen are out. Final selection: Keepers: Justin Bijlow (Feyenoord), Mark Flekken (Brentford), Bart Verbruggen (Brighton & Hove Albion). Verdedigers: Nathan Aké (Manchester City), Daley Blind (Girona), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Denzel Dumfries (Inter), Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen), Lutsharel Geertruida (Feyenoord), Matthijs de Ligt (Bayern München), Micky van de Ven (Tottenham Hotspur), Stefan de Vrij (Inter). Middenvelders: Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool), Frenkie de Jong (FC Barcelona), Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta), Jerdy Schouten (PSV), Tijjani Reijnders (AC Milan), Joey Veerman (PSV), Georginio Wijnaldum (Al-Ettifaq). Aanvallers: Steven Bergwijn (Ajax), Brian Brobbey (Ajax), Memphis Depay (Atlético Madrid), Cody Gakpo (Liverpool), Donyell Malen (Borussia Dortmund), Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig), Wout Weghorst (TSG Hoffenheim).
Maatsen out, unbelievable. Admittedly, Blind had a great season with Girona but c’mon. Maatsen had a great season with Dortmund and is in the CL final. He’s been pivotal for them and is younger and faster. The modern game is fast and requires quick fullbacks. I bet Blind gets badly exposed again this EC. Also, I understand that Frenkie has some credit and is given time to recover, but why is the same not allowed for Timber seeing as de Roon is out (who I don’t rate anyway) and we need another player of the like? I’ve always held out hope for Gravenberch, but truth be told, he’s a bench player at Bayern and has barely seen any minutes while Timber had a good season with Feyenoord and is a better direct replacement for de Roon IMO.
Frenkie and Depay will be fit for 1st game against Poland https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/1922...kie-de-jong-kan-eerste-groepswedstrijd-spelen https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/1033...ok-memphis-depay-klaar-voor-ek-duel-met-polen
