He's a young player making that transition. I do think he should move to a tougher league as soon as the opportunity presents itself. It will help him achieve consistency at a higher level.

 

I don’t have a strong opinion between him, Wiley, or Tolkin but it’s unfortunate he hasn’t been able to get released for camps for the U23s.

 

He’s not going to make the Olympic team, but I’m happy for Andres to go somewhere he’ll play

I assume that means he's going to get paid at Chivas. That's quick to give up on Europe but I have no idea his economic situation.

 

What? He was on loan at Mirandes. He's thanking the club for his stint there.

That Chivas rumor has been refuted already. It always seemed completely bogus.

 

Gotcha. Better to hear. He's too young to be making that move.

 

Though Real Sociedad is probably not going to be the spot next season as they are looking to bring in a left back

I don't think he was ever going to be handed the starting job uncontested. I think Sergio Gomez is just a replacement for Tierney. Doubt it makes a big difference for JoGo.

 

Yes but if they’re bringing in Sergio Gomez and paying a fee for him that’s probably decent there’s no real path to a starting spot with Sociedad.

 

I think though that it was too much to expect that JoGo would go into next season with a starting spot. Even if he was staying at the club for next season, it would probably be in like a LB2 role. I'm not sure this impacts that.

 

I think it’s less go into next season with a starting spot and more go into next season compete for a starting spot. Which he clearly won’t have if that move comes to fruition.

Obed Vargas has completed a one-time switch to from the United States to Mexico.

Per a FIFA Spokesperson in an email to me: "we can confirm that a change of association request (from USA to Mexico) for Mr. Obed Vargas was accepted on 21 May 2024."
