Yeah, I read that. One of the alleged reasons about him rejecting England was the way he was treated in club football. Released and rejected a few times. Completely unsubstantiated if that had any affect on his decisions though. Would he want to go to the Olympics at this point in his career? Seems poor timing tbh.
The Olympics are in France so that probably increases the chances he wants to go. Plus working with Thierry Henry probably attracts players.
Maybe but the timing would be poor. Especially, if he is moving clubs. The Olympics is nothing compared to the Euros. It’s a definite downgrade. Henry seems more in the mould of Stuart Pearce as a coach than someone that you would really enjoy playing for. He’s already slagged off players in his role.
Henry is a terrible coach, he's already off to an iffy start with the France under 21/23 side. Though if they can get the likes of Mbappe in their Olympic side even he should manage to do alright with it. People go on about about how bad Lampard/Gerrard are but Henry's record in management makes them look like Guardiola. The big names might sound nice but if they can't coach the reality will soon set in for the players involved and be more damaging.
Michael Olise likely to be in France’s squad for the Olympics after missing out on Euros selection. Will be a massive stage for him in front of a home crowd— Ed Aarons (@ed_aarons) May 16, 2024

I'm thinking about McFarlane and Buck and wondering if they're in our squads because the FA decided it needed to do better with duals rather on the merits of their ability alone. McFarlane looks well off the standard I'd expect at a major tournament like this, that he's keeping Harry Amass on the bench is very odd.
Manchester United are interested in teenage Blackburn striker Igor Tyjon, 16, as they track several young players for possible deals. (Sun, external)

Lewis koumas is about to get a full call up with wales. It's not captying but it's more than likely a ploy to get him to commit to them. Page has come out with some guff about how can He ignore what koumas has done at Liverpool despite the fact he's only played 1 game
I don't think Tom Cannon is realistically going to be a miss, he's just not that good. Given the dearth of strikers for the under 21s I thought with a decent season he might be useful for this U21 cycle, but as it is he's not looking a better prospect than even someone like Jay Stansfield, who I don't think anyone is imagining as England's future number 9.
Just checked and Cannon only started three league games all season. Five including the FA cup. One of the more unusual club moves.

Feels like their rushing caps through for Crew and Koumas in particular. At least Crew was actually born and raised in Wales just with English heritage.
13 of the 27 man squad born in England. Pretty pathetic. Pathetic they're capping youngsters with no first team experience
Watched Koumas against Tottenham u21s a few weeks back, was decent but amazed he’s been called up to a Wales senior team squad.
