Those rights have been pretty watered down under current rules. It's now just a right to get paid $50K in GAM if one of 5 players on your list (San Diego got 7 this year) wants to come to MLS and your team doesn't make an "objectively, reasonable, offer" and another team does. If the team holding priority does make that objectively reasonable offer, then you have to negotiate a trade. My guess is that if a player the League Office wants in MLS doesn't want to go to the team with the Discovery List priority and the team holding priority plays hard ball and won't agree to a reasonable trade, then the League Office probably forces their hand. In this case, I'm not sure the League would care enough to intervene and I'm not sure the Galaxy would even make that great an offer in terms of his global value given the absence of a DP slot.
I was wondering why Ferkranus was not in the VCFC lineup for the home opener this past weekend in Thousand Oaks. I guess we know why now. I had no idea he had an Australian passport. Not sure if it is a loan or sale. Brisbane Roar are set to sign LA Galaxy defender Marcus Ferkranus. The 21-year-old, who holds an Australian passport, currently plays for the Galaxy’s reserves team in the MLS Next Pro competition and is a former United States u-20 international. It seemed pretty clear that he wasn't a candidate for the first team in the Galaxy's plans. In the MLS roster profile posted May 2nd, he was marked as unavailable
Ferkranus never broke the first team and there is a reason for that. It's not a big loss for the club and if there is some transfer fee, Kuntz is a real genius.
CoG says it was a free transfer. For what it’s worth, I agree it wasn’t working out here. His level seemed to be MLNP and he was still good for at least one boneheaded play a game as a 21 year-old playing against 17 yesr-olds. I know that it drove some of the goalkeepers mad. He’s still young though. Maybe things will click in a new environment. His fate was written when he was not rostered with MLS despite being signed to an MLS HG contract. TRANSFER: Ferkranus will move to Australian side Brisbane Roar on a free transfer from LA Galaxy. Has been playing with G2/VCFC. Seems like a great opportunity for him. I still think there's a lot of football left for the 21-year-old#LAGalaxy #MLS https://t.co/CCkCxiBjcM— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) May 22, 2024
Good news coming 👀 pic.twitter.com/rigX2aqVe6— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) May 26, 2024 “good news is coming this week” ? New contract? new signing (Reus)? I'm picking up what he's putting down pic.twitter.com/q1gsX2iwHc— WokePotato (@Wokepotayto) May 26, 2024
its going to be a gender reveal for his new baby* the last rumor I read on Reus, was Charlotte was playing hardball on giving up his rights as they want to bring him in too. on the contract status, I thought it was already completed. *wild speculation with no proof of anything
They haven’t announced the new contract so that is 99% what it likely will be. however, the thought of adding Reus to our thin attack makes more sense to me every day.
Would be a real surprise if Puigee re-ups because he recently said his ambition is to go back to Europe.
why does it feel like this topic was discussed a couple of months ago and the consensus was he would re-sign and play here a couple of more years and the Galaxy would cash in on his transfer back to Europe and it would be a win win for all involved. the only reason this sticks out to me is because I'm pretty sure I made some snarky comments about Puig at the time (I know shocker )
That was cool - I didn't know Riqui's English was coming along so well, good for him. Stay tuned for good news!... His hair is uncommonly thick - I want to see him grow it long, it looks like he could have a Valderamma globe around his head.
Jonathan Bond has found a place to land. Joining Watford -- who finished 15th in the Championship last season. #LAGalaxy #MLS https://t.co/OpR64fZoyd— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) May 29, 2024 Good for Bondy.
Given it says 10 Puig above that locker I guess it’s Riqui signing his new deal. Good news I suppose but we kinda already knew he got a new deal and I was kinda hoping the good news was Reus.
I get it but I don't want to displace Dejan again, poor kid needs a long run as the actual starter who would Marco displace?
Vamos por más 💫We have signed Designated Player Riqui Puig to a contract extension through the end of the 2027 MLS season.📰: https://t.co/P8ncNQ7rM5 pic.twitter.com/peNBe2bMm1— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) May 31, 2024
This is more heart than head, but Dele Ali is a free agent. He’s had a torrid time with injuries and he’s struggled with mental health issues that saw his performance decline. But when he was on, he was the unplayable. A fresh start in a city he likes, but where he could be relatively anonymous might be the change of scenery he needs. He’d score more goals than Berry.
Galaxy's social media team is on fire this year. Who's bored in LA? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/0JNM7VL5l2— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) May 31, 2024
