Expecting a big crowd for Mexico-Brazil friendly: I'm told that it took just one week for more than 50,00 tickets have been sold for the Mexico-Brazil friendly on June 8 at Texas A&M's 102,000+ capacity Kyle Field. The expectation is that the game will break the record for the largest attended Mexico game in the U.S.— Felipe Cárdenas (@FelipeCar) April 12, 2024

Wrexham coming back to the USA for 2024: Wrexham has confirmed one match so far, a friendly against Chelsea on July 24 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The two sides met last year in Chapel Hill, N.C., with Chelsea winning 5-0. I haven't seen the other fixtures yet.
La Liga says they will play league matches in the US: LA LIGA GAMES COMING TO AMERICA? 🇺🇸La Liga "will play official matches abroad", its president Javier Tebas told Spanish newspaper Expansion. That could happen from the 2025/26 season & the US is the most likely destination. ⏳What a time to be an American football fan. ⚽️ pic.twitter.com/X0IhdH2GN2— Men in Blazers (@MenInBlazers) April 24, 2024
Not a foreign friendly, but a foreign league match, possibly. With FIFA settling with Relevant saying they will accept any result from the lawsuit Relevant filed to allow foreign league matches in the US, La Liga has announced that they are interested in playing regular season games in the US. 🚨 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: La Liga president Javier Tebas has announced that La Liga will play official league fixtures in the USA from the 2025-26 season. 🤯🇺🇸🇪🇸✍️ Expansion pic.twitter.com/kNgQHyLw9R— Football Tweet ⚽ (@Football__Tweet) April 24, 2024 The lawsuit with Relevant isn't over as US Soccer wants to see the settlement. If the settlement only covers the US, expect US Soccer to pull FIFA back into the lawsuit as any settlement that doesn't involve FIFA globally lifting the league match in foreign countries ban would likely result in US Soccer being forced to sue FIFA. US Soccer is likely to argue that it would be an anti-trust violation for FIFA to keep the ban in the rest of the world, while allowing them in the US only. An agreement to adopt an exception to the policy for the US market, even if not required by the court to do so, might draw an objection from USSF/its pro leagues - maybe in an antitrust claim of its own - b/c it would be a conspiracy to favor foreign leagues over US leagues 4/4— Steven Bank (@ProfBank) April 21, 2024
Jon Arnold of Getting Concacafed put out a letter on the subject. His take: If the path is cleared for league matches to happen in the U.S. - and that path isn’t yet fully clear - club teams from Concacaf and the Americas would jump first.

It looks like Relevant Sports is going to "win" the lawsuit. FIFA has already settled with Relevant claiming that they will be dropping the ban and the Judge has accepted their withdrawal. Since USSF's primary defense was that their rejection of Relevant's certification request was because of FIFA's ban, it becomes largely moot now. Relevant still wants damages for the cancellation and it's likely USSF will settle to just make the lawsuit go away now. At the judge's direction, US Soccer and Relevent have conferred and agreed to request a referral of their antitrust dispute to a judicial settlement conference for assistance in resolving their dispute after the judge accepted FIFA's dismissal from the case 1/ pic.twitter.com/2HH5cjThQG— Steven Bank (@ProfBank) May 10, 2024

I kind of miss the International Champions Cup. Summer friendlies will never be that meaningful of course but I appreciated the format.

May 31st, 2024 Mexico 1-0 Bolivia (friendly) Soldier Field, Chicago, IL Attendance: 52,273 Strangely, Mexico used 8 subs and Bolivia 7, and I didn't see any use of concussion subs. My limited Spanish was enough to tell me the TV announcers were confused about the number of subs as well. Matches have been deemed "no contest" when this has happened in the past.

An article (in Spanish) discussing Mexico's friendlies in the US: https://espndeportes.espn.com/futbo...uegos-moleros-en-estados-unidos-ganancias-sum Some highlights: Mexico first played a friendly in the United States at home in 1973, falling 1-0 to Poland in Los Angeles, California. Over the next three decades, El Tri rarely left the region, playing 41 games in Los Angeles or its suburbs, thanks in large part to the concentration of Mexican-Americans in the region. In total, there have been 110 friendly matches in the United States since 2003, averaging nearly 50,000 fans per game. [It] was estimated that in the first twelve years of the partnership [with SUM], almost $400 million were generated between ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorships, and other sources of income related to the matches. Since the agreement with SUM began, Mexico has played 82 matches in national territory. Not counting official matches in the Gold Cup, Copa America Centenario, Nations League and others – El Tri has played 110 friendlies in the United States during the same period. The SUM contract expires in 2028.
