Wrexham coming back to the USA for 2024:

Wrexham has confirmed one match so far, a friendly against Chelsea on July 24 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The two sides met last year in Chapel Hill, N.C., with Chelsea winning 5-0.

I haven't seen the other fixtures yet.

Not a foreign friendly, but a foreign league match, possibly. With FIFA settling with Relevant saying they will accept any result from the lawsuit Relevant filed to allow foreign league matches in the US, La Liga has announced that they are interested in playing regular season games in the US.

The lawsuit with Relevant isn't over as US Soccer wants to see the settlement. If the settlement only covers the US, expect US Soccer to pull FIFA back into the lawsuit as any settlement that doesn't involve FIFA globally lifting the league match in foreign countries ban would likely result in US Soccer being forced to sue FIFA. US Soccer is likely to argue that it would be an anti-trust violation for FIFA to keep the ban in the rest of the world, while allowing them in the US only.

Jon Arnold of Getting Concacafed put out a letter on the subject.

    His take:

If the path is cleared for league matches to happen in the U.S. - and that path isn’t yet fully clear - club teams from Concacaf and the Americas would jump first.

It looks like Relevant Sports is going to "win" the lawsuit. FIFA has already settled with Relevant claiming that they will be dropping the ban and the Judge has accepted their withdrawal. Since USSF's primary defense was that their rejection of Relevant's certification request was because of FIFA's ban, it becomes largely moot now. Relevant still wants damages for the cancellation and it's likely USSF will settle to just make the lawsuit go away now.

I kind of miss the International Champions Cup. Summer friendlies will never be that meaningful of course but I appreciated the format.

Strangely, Mexico used 8 subs and Bolivia 7, and I didn't see any use of concussion subs. My limited Spanish was enough to tell me the TV announcers were confused about the number of subs as well. Matches have been deemed "no contest" when this has happened in the past.

An article (in Spanish) discussing Mexico's friendlies in the US:

    https://espndeportes.espn.com/futbo...uegos-moleros-en-estados-unidos-ganancias-sum

    Some highlights:

Mexico first played a friendly in the United States at home in 1973, falling 1-0 to Poland in Los Angeles, California. Over the next three decades, El Tri rarely left the region, playing 41 games in Los Angeles or its suburbs, thanks in large part to the concentration of Mexican-Americans in the region.

In total, there have been 110 friendly matches in the United States since 2003, averaging nearly 50,000 fans per game.

[It] was estimated that in the first twelve years of the partnership [with SUM], almost $400 million were generated between ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorships, and other sources of income related to the matches.

Since the agreement with SUM began, Mexico has played 82 matches in national territory. Not counting official matches in the Gold Cup, Copa America Centenario, Nations League and others – El Tri has played 110 friendlies in the United States during the same period.

The SUM contract expires in 2028.
