They do have Americans to blame.

They're now owned by Americans. :)

It would be just amazing if Americans took over Leeds just to destroy them.

So as far as managerial musical chairs, there are a LOT of high profile positions up for grabs this offseason. Liverpool, Juve, AC Milan, Barcelona, and I know Man U is still thinking despite the FA Cup win. Im focused on the AC Milan guys.

What are some names we should be hoping for AC Milan, and why do we want them? Names Ive seen linked currently are Conte, Paulo Fonseca, Sarri, and Van Bommel

What managers do we want to avoid like the plague? Obviously Tuchel and Mourinho. Who else?

Nice shot, nice composure. Not sure why the defenders didn’t do more to close him down.

Because its the bottom of La Liga 2?

That point was hugely important to Mirandes. They're one point above the relegation zone.. The bottom 4 go down from La Liga 2. 3 going down are confirmed. Win or draw next week against Amorebieta, and they're safe. [I'm talking like I know anything about these teams.]

It'll be interested to see what happens to Gomez this summer. This loan was a success as he's played a lot, but has he done enough to earn a good transfer? I don't know.

    Anyway,.........................

Is it completely out of the question that he returns from loan to Real Sociedad and earns a promotion to the first team?

I haven't really paid any attention to him this season, so I'm genuinely curious to hear from anyone who's been following him whether that's possible or simply a bridge too far right now (even just as a backup).

    1. When I saw the clip it looked like a goal a team gives up in the 80th minute because they’re tired. I was pretty shocked to see it was really early in the second half. I may also have been making a very subtle dig at the type of poster who believes in Yurp Uber Alles.
    2. How can Zendejas be that productive in a league I believe is still a step ahead of MLS, at least for the top teams, and have been such a bust for the Nats? If an MLSer like, say, Paul Arriola, or John Stroud, racked up those numbers, I’d be really surprised and disappointed if he played like Zendejas has for the Nats.

Was I dreaming this? Lotsa good Brenden passes including the assist to save Union from relegation where he picks the ball up in the defending half between the cb's, hands it off, gets it back, turns and delivers the white glove service to Hollerbach who scores. The vid is 11' but only first 6' is game hi lites of whch first 3' Aronson is playing.

Per usual, they took him off while leading (1-0 in this case) at 80' and the other team scored to tie it up at 85'. Union then got a pk at the death.

Meh. Made sense. They were dead rubbers and Weston's not likely to be back with Juve next year.

    Perception?

In 2024, Zendejas has 9 goals, 5 assist in 1978 minutes. 1 goal contribution per 141 minutes.

In his limited, mostly B squad (or however you quantify it, not A team), he has 1 goal, 1 assist in 366 minutes. 1 goal contribution per 183 minutes.

So trying to look at similar minutes, he'd have about 10.8 (so say 11) G/A in 1978 minutes with USA, compared to 14 with his club.

So a bit better with his club, but he's mostly played with guys who wont get many minutes in the future with USA. I'd say a bit of chemistry and slightly different roles being the bigger factors.

will be curious if it was just because the season was effectively dead and they were giving him a rest or not.

not Weston’s first rodeo. If he’s out of favor with the new coach, that means he’s a surefire starter when season starts. We know how this game goes. Unless he’s sold of course

Yup, literally what I was referring to about Brendan and how Leeds was missing a player who could do that. That was so clinical. I’m glad he’s getting his confidence back.

Here's the real one per fotmob in the last match of the season that took Union out of the relegation zone. Dispossessed 8 but went into 22 duels ! and his passing was 92% with 4 chances created and 6 successful dribbles (of 11 so maybe dispossessed high on unsuccessful dribbles 5 times?). What's amazing about Brenden is how clean he plays. 22 duels and not 1 foul?

In his first season with America Zendejas hit .43 npG+A/90 on .39 npxG+xA/90. In his second he hit .58 npG+A/90 on .42 npxG+xA/90. In the most recent he hit .76 npG+A/90 on .40 npxG+xA/90. With Necaxa his production was bang on his .33 npxG+xA/90 and .22 npxG+xA/90 averages. With America he has .42 npG/90 on .22 npxG/90. So unless he has become, by far, the best finisher in the world he’s on an unsustainable hot streak while not becoming involved in more danger.

I think he has a potential out/explanation there, but I don't think it's terribly convincing because of just how bad in scale the peformances have been, but teammates matter and that Gold Cup especially was on the scale of the '21 Olympic Campaign in terms of grand mal incompetence of attack design. Nobody was gonna look great in that set up/roster.

I'd guess for the same reasons player on the Mexico team have trouble with the US and other big, athletic teams like Jamaica. Sort of why we talk about Aaronson getting big bothered and even Pulisic in the PL. Smaller offensive players usually have trouble with bigger defensive players (invoking the Messi rule here where there are certain exceptions).

Zendejas had a goal against Grenada and an assist against St. Kitts. In matches against Serbia, El Salvador, Jamaica, Trinidad, and Canada, he produced nothing. Nevertheless, he had a strong Clausura campaign, in which he exhibited signs of improvement in key areas. Perhaps he gets a Post-Copa look.

He's actually never been capped by Berhalter...........................in the first or second tenures.

It was the interim coaches that used him in early-to-mid 2023.

He's had very few opportunities with the "A" team. You wonder if we're too harsh based on those Gold Cup games. I'm not trying to make excuses for him. He wasn't good. But when we look at that starting XI we used against Jamaica in the Gold Cup, it has no resemblance to the A team. We were starting Alan Sonora in central midfield for heaven's sake.

Maybe Zendejas will get another look with the "A" team post-Copa. His play in club soccer has merited it.

............although once the Olympics end, all of those guys enter the USMNT discussion. That's 3 months from now. And we have so much wing and attacking midfield depth bubbling thru with that group. So the battle gets tougher for a veteran like Zendejas. Then these guys like Yow, Paredes, Paxten Aaronson, Booth, Esmir, Gutierrez, Luna, etc. etc. etc. enter the chat.
