I'm glad to see Hershfelt and Staab on the roster. Staab should have been there a long time ago. I'm surprised Williams was left off the roster. Seems to me we're a bit thin at the attacking midfield position. I don't have much confidence that Lavelle can survive the Olympics uninjured. To replace her are unknowns: Albert, Yohannes, maybe Macario.

the USA is failing in most of their attacks at this time but not because of the reasons we have seen in the past. They are simply making bad passes in the middle phases of attacks. However whenever they connect the team is producing chances. But S. Korea is actually looking the most likely to score. But they, like the USA, tend to miss rather badly when they take shots. I expect the USA will settle down soon and get things right. S. Korea is a pretty good team but they are NOT the USA and, pretty clearly, not quite on the USA's level. I think the final score will be something like 3 or 4 to 1 or 0 in favor of the USA. BTW: I really like the attempt, particularly by Rodman, to get the ball back in play quickly on throw ins. BTW2: What is S. Korea's GK's record in club play?
Do you think Horan is trying to replace Morgan by drifting offside and then standing in an offside position. Note: It could be, in a couple of cases, that the passer was late but I don't really think so. I think it was Horan, like Morgan, just being lazy.
I assume smith will score at least one since she continues to show she can’t really play well, but she often scores anyway when thats the case.
Mal gets a goal because of some pretty good in passing through the midfield and Swanson places her shot PERFECTLY!!!
Great pass from Smith. Never seen her do anything close to that before. Going to check if it was deflected.
Under our previous coach we had a problem in that if we scored early (in the first half) and entered the second in the lead we produced little or nothing else. I hope we extend this lead. I would be perfectly happy to be wrong in my final score prediction if the final ends up 5 or 6 to 0.
Well it was a workman like performance in the first half. For the first 25 minutes or so we could not connect passes and we were having "touch" problems. Once we settled we got two goals and almost all S. Korean chances dried up. I do NOT see any evidence of the slow plodding soccer that some have been warning us about. Of course S. Korea did not bunker so the field was open and that "could" make a difference.
Perhaps you have not been watching the NWSL this year. Smith is learning to add assist-making to her repertoire. Her game is not yet fully developed, but she is becoming a much better-rounded player -- 8 goals and 6 assists in 10 NWSL games. Her play to Swanson is something we are starting to see.
BTW: We need to try and win as many corners as possible. Davidson is a good bit taller that most of the S, Korean team and, with the relatively low driven corners she could get 3 or 4. As is said about other attributes: "You can't teach tall. "
