I was copying dravde and didn't bother to check the correct spelling. Very bad of me.

I should also note that I was watching the DAZN YouTube stream, and everybody kept calling her Salma. That bothered me.

A month or two ago, I practiced trying to say her name for a couple days and had to give up

(I also practiced spelling her name and I think I've got it now but notice I'm not taking a chance on it in this post but sticking with pronouns, tee-hee!)

There's a reason why they don't dare to attempt pronouncing her surname. :sneaky:

By the way, Paralluelo isn't properly "easy" to spell and pronounce for an Italian like me (I've heard multiple commentators or color commentators for Italian TV, including Carolina Morace, butcher it while calling matches! :x3:), but I anyway suppose it's easier for me than it is for any English native-speaker. ;)

I tend to try and make it a point, as a male, to say and write a female's used name. Not always, of course (see how I used Bonmati, above, as that is not the name on her jersey). But we males tend to minimize women in all ways, in all areas life, whether we are aware of it or not. In football context, that could be comparing the Barca women to the Barca men, comparing the women's game to the men's game, saying a female player could never match a male player, etc. Here in the US, there has been analysis of the Supreme Court in which female justices, in their early years, are interrupted far more than their male counterparts, when also in their early years. So, in a small way of trying to show recognition and appreciation, I try and use the used name of a female player, and spell it correctly.

Let's see, her name is spelled Parallelleo? Nope. Parauellello? Nope. Parararauelluello. That's way to long. *Looks to blisset's post.* Oh, yeah, Paralluelo. Easy. ;)

It's a very cool last name Paralluelo actually, so I will probably go with that. Salma is a bit too generic. Are we talking about Bacha or Paralluelo? Just joking though I know it's Selma Bacha:p
