Some of the videos I've seen from this are horrifying, as w/ some of the other massacres recently. It takes a "special" person to defend this still, let alone do it.

It also takes a special person to handwave 10/7. The Gaza problem IMO is that the vast majority of the world doesn’t care about Israelis or Gazans, except as a means to score points online. So there’s no energy for solving it, only for tit for tatting. It’s very sad.

He forgot "what about Oct 6th", Oct 5th, Oct 4th, 1967, 1948, etc.

It takes a special person to draw equivalencies to these things & grossly exaggerate the events on Oct 7th from people escaping human captivity to act like apartheid, colonialism, & genocide built off greed & supremacy are "complex". These people, who pretend to still be moral, if not more so, are manufacturing consent for this just as much as those who are avid supporters. It prevents any real action to change course from taking place.

You wouldn't, in retrospect, act like Nazi Germany, slavery, the Native American genocide, or an extremely watered down version of this that the British Empire dropped in South Africa instead; were complex. This is the problem; people are manipulated in the moment to not learn from other similar historical events, then prevent them.

Except for the fact that, as many videos and others source corroborate, Gaza on October 6 was nothing like Nazi Germany or South Africa. Israel had no official presence in Gaza, and Gazans could enjoy a beautiful coastline, universities, well-equipped medical facilities, and modern homes. They could cross the border to work in Israel, and if they needed medical care not available in Gaza, an Israeli volunteer would drive them to a firstrate Israel hospital.

Their leaders chose to throw all that -- and them -- under the bus on October 7. Imagine if instead of devoting all their resources to weapons and tunnels over the last 20 years and choosing bloodshed, the leaders had invested in turning Gaza into a tourist resort.

Alright everyone, lets reign in the personal attacks. I said it awhile back so its just a reminder.

    3 options:

    1) We Mods can break out the jackboots and start handing out infringements like Halloween candy,

    2) act like adults.

    3) Close the thread entirely, and everyone can take their shit-posting over to Reddit on the topic.

  7. Dude, it wasnot about "SHOWING" news, it was about gathering news, like in Gaza what happens there.
Nobody in the Netherlands prevents "Faulty News" from broadcasting their news if they would like and certainly not "gathering" Dutch "fake" news like during trvmp about geriatrics in the Netherlands not daring going into hospitals, because they fear to be euthanized.
You fail with your attempt by attacking the messanger to divert from the issue, free gathering of news.
It's a lie and you know that bloody well

Pressure is increasing to have Israel banned from international football. The original source adds that there are others also pressuring FIFA but more discretely

“I am ashamed of my own government” protester placards at a demonstration by Fijians outside the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre (FWCC) . . . commentators draw a distinction between the matter of political recognition/state identity and the humanitarian issues at stake. Image: FWCC

    Political vs humanitarian
The commentators draw the distinction between the matter of political recognition/state identity and the humanitarian issues at stake.

Says Mohammed: “This is not about recognising the state of Israel. This is about a conflict where people wanted to protect the unprotected. All they were saying is, ‘let’s’ support a ceasefire so [that] women, children, elderly … could get out [and] food supplies, medical supplies could get in …’ and it wasn’t [going to be] an indefinite ceasefire, which we [Fiji]
    agreed to later.”

Fiji eventually did vote for the ceasefire when it came before the UN General Assembly again in December, following a major outcry against its position at home. The key concern going forward is the impact on the future of Fiji’s decades-long peacekeeping involvement in the Middle East.

Fiji-born political sociologist, Professor Steven Ratuva, is director of the Macmillan Brown Centre for Pacific Studies and professor in the Department of Anthropology and Sociology at the University of Canterbury.

“The security of Fijian soldiers overseas will be threatened, as well as Fijian citizens themselves,” says Ratuva. “There are already groups campaigning underground for a tourist boycott of Fiji. I’ve personally received angry emails about ‘your bloody dumb country.’”

Nair says when 45 peacekeeping Fijian soldiers were taken hostage by the al Qaeda-linked Syrian rebel group al-Nusra Front in the Golan Heights in 2014, when all else — including the UN — had failed to secure their release, Fiji’s only bargaining power was the value of its peacekeeping neutrality.

“No international power stepped up to help Fiji in its most traumatic time in international relations in its entire history. Fiji had to fall back on itself, to use its own humble credentials. I successfully used our peace-keeping credentials in the Middle East and over many decades, including the shedding of Fijian blood, to ensure peace in the Middle East, to free our captured soldiers.”

I’m not worried about any of those. The shit will have hit the fan if some of the nations that use soccer to greenwash go the same route. FIFA listens to them.

Maybe we should have a thread for disapprovals of Israeli policy that are entirely pointless because the people disapproving have no clout at all.

Apparently the tent camp of refugees that was firebombed was in extremely close proximity to a UN aid complex. Perhaps Netanyahu was right, and it was all a mistake, because that was the target.

Like clockwork..... That would have been laughable if this was not so tragic! Even a scumbag criminal like Bibi felt compelled to say that something went tragically wrong but some will always try to rationalize & justify the unjustifiable.....No shame.

The profile of the account says it all......What a load of garbage. There's so much contradiction there, I cant even. I mean, is that person stupid or insane or both?
