Yeah anyone in the bargain basement is gonna have a defect. We just have to figure out if we can live with the defect.

Is Regillon done at Tottenham? Couldn't we put a 5 mill big for him. He has no future at Spurs and they would rather get something for him than nothing.

This Malacia injury is so bizarre. Almost zero communication from the club. Out for almost a full year.

The Athletic did a write up on Malacia injury a few weeks back, gist of it is that he had knee discomfort 22/23 but didn't tell the club because he was keen to progress. He did eventually tell the club but they decided to "manage it so he could keep playing".

He had patchy appearances during this time towards the end of the season. Still had discomfort pre-season so they decided to operate. He didn't want to use the surgeon the club wanted him to use in London and preferred to go back to Netherlands and use a surgeon there against United's advice. However club agreed and his surgery was conducted without the clubs "oversight".

He eventually returned October, but when he started training was having issues and it was noticed that there were fragments of cartilage remaining around his meniscus. So he had to undergo a second corrective operation in November. Was done by the same surgeon, but supposedly this time with clubs "oversight".

At some point during this time, EtH was given the impression by the medical staff that he would be ready for early 2024 (hence letting Reguillon go) .... Info on last few months and the further delays is sketchy.

Sounds like very badly managed by all concerned and that he hasn't been very good at keeping the club informed (plus they seem to have been bad at monitoring). A mess all around by all concerned.

Interesting little tidbit. Listened to Talk of the Devil's podcast today. They talked about a recent game with Utd staff versus media. They all talked about how hard they found the OT pitch and how tough it was on their muscles.

Was always said about Wembley that it gave players cramp - which was interesting given Martinez had played a few games but was cramping and had to be subbed yesterday.

When I was a kid there was a particular away pitch I hated playing on because it gave me severe cramp every time I played there.

Not related to the playing surface as such but they are going to overhaul Carrington and put a 'pre-activation zone' which when translated is just an area for doing proper warm-ups :)

We poached the guy who manages the physios (from Arsenal) - he obviously wants to replace some of ours with some of theirs.

For sure our injury record this season didnt look good under him, but same issue as with our players - any manager is still ultimately only as good as his team.

Also possible pre Ineos we looked at Arsenal and assumed they were good because of the medical dept manager and actually it was more down to the individual physios ;)

Inexperience. I think the medical staff we have now are largely fresh faced. And I'm sure they were hearing the gripes from coaching staff about players going missing through bs injuries, so they started to downplay their issues. Cavani lol. Always seemed to have headaches when it suited him.

I’m fine with him calling out the medical staff. I’m not saying they’re to blame for all the injuries but they sure as hell aren’t doing a great job. Look no further than Licha and Malacia management this past season.

As for Shaw, he can ******** right off for going to the Euros. I get that he tried his best to be fit for us and it just so happens he’s fit for the Euros. But you have to realize optics are a thing and it makes him look really bad. And if for some reason he gets a major injury at the Euros and misses preseason or start of season, he should get absolute torched by the supporters. Your responsibility is to be fit for the club that pays you a fortune, if that means turning down a national tournament so you can spend extra time rehabbing and getting 100% fit, then that’s the sacrifice you make.

He basically blamed the manager as well.

    Nothing new, but still important.

that has been constantly overlooked this season.

more importantly though, how are you going to say all that then basically go do the same thing again at the Euros?

Just the last 17 of our matches missed.

Successive hamstring injuries in a player of his age in his position does not bode well for his future fitness and performance levels either.

Remember when it was briefed way back that Southgate wouldnt have favourites but would pick based on form and fitness? Missing last 17 matches, Shaw form is a complete unknown and his lack of fitness speaks for itself.

I mean, we knew that was bullshit when he picked Maguire when he wasn’t even starting for his club. Or when he continued to pick Henderson after going to the Saudi league.

That's my biggest worry with EtH honestly. I can't prove anything, but do wonder how much of our injury crises rests on him.

I believe we have a team of soft cocks. They cry to management and cut the manager off at the knees consistently.

I have no inside information, but I would assume most managers ask their player to play injured and even guilt trip them when they refuse to "take one for the team".

It is just a bad mix of too little depth, too many injuries at the same position and a few (like Bruno, Maguire etc.) who tbf have been willing to play when injured.

Main answer is get more depth so we can rotate properly.

Plus a competent medical department (enough evidence that ours hasnt been).

Very progressive of you to go with soft cocks and not pussies.

The head of the med dept is very experienced. Came from Arsenal with a decade and a half under his belt. Problem is the rest of the staff. I think they're all green. It must have been hard to find people after Covid and given the handicap that comes with our owners:

A pussy is useful and soft cock is not. I meant what I said.
