Yep, who on this team starts for a playoff team? Thommy?

My point is that a better coach could take the SKC squad as is and be more successful than PV. You do not need lots of incandescent talents on your team to be successful, Moneyball showed that. When it comes to futbol management, PV is a definition of insane, 'keep doing the same thing expecting different results'. PV was right in a sense, there was some good play from the SKC players, but like all of us he has a hard time accepting his weaknesses.
I hope for PV to finally and wholly lose the locker room. That may be the only way to get PV to accept the fact that he can be wrong and hopefully get better in his remaining years.

“Obviously, we got back into the game. I just think giving up the second goal obviously killed us.”

This is some real John Madden stuff. So the team that scored more points won. That's some really insightful technical analysis there Peter.

Thommy is quality. He would start on a good team. Melia maybe? No one else comes close.

You don't need to convince me that PV is a terrible manager.

That said, I'm sick and tired of the narrative that this roster isn't a pile of dogshit. It is closer to USL quality than top of MLS.

I think I'd put Walter and maybe Radoja ahead of Melia on players I think could start for playoff teams.

Fair. Both are good players. The midfield is decent compared to the rest of the league. It's also the strength of the team.

The issue with the roster build is the attack. It's where a disproportionate amount of the roster dollars are spent and none of the attackers are good enough to start for a playoff team.

Because so much is spent on the attack, little is spent on the defense. None of those players would start on a playoff team either.

I think any of our starters could hang on a playoff team. Clearly they can't all be on the same playoff team though, haha.

14 games into the season. Our staring front line has 1 goal each Salloi/JFR and 3 goals Pulido. If you think this is starting quality for a playoff team, we are watching different leagues.

Maybe, PV can drive down the street and sit in on a some Current practice sessions to pick up a couple of coaching tips from Vlatko. ;)

Pulido has talent. It's just that he reached that point everyone reaches at some point. He's lost a stop, he's not the player he was last summer, and the odds are he will not be again.
JFR has lost a similar step. Even last year, but more in previous years, he left defenders scarmbling, time and again. Now, they roll with him.
People keep mentioning Salloi but did he actually play?
I still believe in Rosero. I still believe in JFD. I still believe in Radoja. Thommy, when healthy, and Walter, when healthy, are good players.
I think we're sub average at every other spot on the field right now.

And Vermes has no ideas on how to fix what ails us.
    Clearly, none.
    I can't believe he's not under pressure.

I took Inca Roads comment that Sporting’s starters could all be an important part of a roster on a playoff team, not that they all could or should start. Most of Sporting’s starters should be depth at this point in their careers, except Thommy, Radoja and Rosero, maybe Walter and Davis (but Davis has regressed somewhat this year defensively).
