That was awful from Dajome. You have the ball at the top of the box with a defender down. And you do what, exactly? Pass the ball directly to the opponent, unintentionally, allowing them to kick the ball out of bounds? Terrible.
My optimism short term is down 37%, and for the long term is down 8%. I don’t see the team attacking and ameliorating the weakness revealed in the first few months of the season.
Yet again. The pts dropped from winning positions is atrocious. This is the kind of stat that gets teams relegated in real leagues.
In MLS it looks like it’s going to be the difference between like 6-7th and 10-11th. We’re gonna get relegated from the playoffs.
Lesesne wants to sub in players because that is what coaches are supposed to do. But every single sub makes the team demonstrably worse. It's no wonder that DCU habitually gives up the lead. Pirani in particular might be the single worst DC player of the last decade with more than 20 appearances. His offensive numbers are among the worst in the league and, what's worse, he routinely gives up the ball at the most inopportune moments and regularly fails to track back or press with the rest of the team. He's talentless, stupid AND lazy.
At halftime, my daughter said, "if DCU had better players, they would be up 3-0." I believe that sums up this team. Other teams now realize two things about Benteke -- 1) you can foul him with impunity and the refs won't protect him and 2) there is no other reliable credible scoring threat on DCU. Some roster thoughts: I think I'm done with Ku as a starter. He's not a consistent, credible scoring threat. He has some skill and moves and would be better served as a 65-70 minute sub running at tired defenders. That would put Fletcher on the bench where he belongs. I never have seen such a clueless player -- his offensive instincts generally are wrong and he absolutely flat out can't play defense above a U-7 level. I would give Murrell the run out for the next 3 games in the Ku spot. Murrell is a 9, he may be young and raw, but that's his spot and he knows how to make the moves and, maybe, play off Benteke. Finally, can Pirani regress even further? From presumptive starter to 80th minute sub in less than half a season. Edison Flores was a disaster, but his numbers are HoF in comparison to Pirani.
Yeah, I agree. I like Ku, Hopkins and Stroud, but if those guys are coming off the bench instead of Pirani and Fletcher, now you’re cooking. I doubt Murrell is the answer but they have to try something, the status quo will see this team miss the playoffs again.
No way these guys make the playoffs. We’re not buying half a dozen guys in this window so neither our depth, nor our quality issues are going to be improved very much. Not sure why this LB Goff is reporting we’re in for would come to MLS, let alone DCU. His club was qualified for group stage UCL for winning the Austrian league. Announcer: Sir, for your efforts, we’re proud to present you with a brand new Ferrari, what a terrific season you and the club had. David Schnegg: Nah, I’m gonna pass. There’s this sweet used Dacia Sandero I’ve had my eye on for a while. Announcer: <blink> <blink> <blink> Come August, the club is going to be offering fans the opportunity to join the starting line up every game because these guys are going to be injured or dead tired.
He might be getting paid more. Or, he might value a 34 game season of quality opponents to however many group stage games they get plus their matches against Salzburg. It’s kinda like moving from Celtic to MLS.
I never thought I'd pine for the days when Benny would finish the game with the starting XI, even when it was 105° in the shade and multiple players were hopping on one leg because the other was bent the wrong way. And yet here we are.
This mismanagement that got us to the point at which adding someone was next to impossible is a cluster******** of epidemic proportions that I can't quite wrap my head around. The only thing more vexing than that is that someone gave Wayne Rooney another job.
Most players not available are out on medical. Certainly one has to plan that someone will be injured but one can't really know who or when (although Najar and Birnbaum prove the opposite). The signings they have already announced indicate they are not oblivious. I am curious to know how/why it took so long to clear Jeazhe out of the way.
What signings have they announced, I missed it. Not being sarcastic, I didn’t know they signed any players recently.
