It may be an ugly postage-stamp sized shithole but they're going to give us an old-fashioned New York curb stomping in it. We lose this one, 2-0.
Postage sized field + our insistence on playing it out of the back + in general not great technical ability + our trouble threading the ball through defenders = bad news.
We were effective late in the Austin game having Rodrigues advance the ball up the left side and then threading a through ball for Skahan to run onto.
Yeah the problem is that space will be even a lot smaller in NY. Skahan is not a close control kind of player. He needs a little space. And that goes for many of our players. Thankfully Beason probably won’t play but Rodrigues may be good for one or two giveaways deep in our end by insisting on trying to beat a defender with the ball at his feet. We should probably play more hoofball and hope that Hernán can get onto a 2nd ball, and then, 50-yard keeper chip .
I don’t see us winning. I hope that we play better, but the small sized pitch won’t help us. Go Quakesfans!! F#$& NycFk!!

Just noticed that this is a rare Friday game. Can’t remember the last time we played on Friday night. They means we have the whole weekend to be bummed about the Quakes last game.

seems like we should be used to it by now and impervious, but the losing just rolls on, year after year, never gets much easier to take.
I should know better, but it always bums me out. Losing on the road it something most every MLS team does regularly though. It's the home losses that really hurt, and this season has been brutal in that regard so far.
no doubt it's been a tough one with few silver linings. rolling into places like NY (and especially Portland) where the Quakes have never won a regular season game, really feels like the odds are stacked against us. Next two games (this one and the one vs Cincinnati on 6/15) are against two of the top three teams in the east (Miami being the other one)...and it doesn't get much easier from there.
Yeah, we've gotten better, but I wish the other teams would stop getting better so that we can catch up . Pretty much every game in MLS is a slog and seems like there are very few dogs this year. Case in point, Austin was pretty bad last year, as was CO and even LA had a down year. This year they're all up, and Minnesota is way up also after a down year. We tend to only think about how good we are, but we have to remember that we are measured against another team every game. The competition is tough, and even if you are a little better than the year before you could still have a down year.
we're poor, we've been poor for what seems like an eternity, and we're very slow to react once it's clear that we don't have what we need. this season has been particularly tough to take. waiting until the season was over to sign the DP everyone knew we needed, for ages, . As I look at the next 6 games, I'm thinking we pick up a point vs Portland at home, maybe St Louis. I think we lose to LAG and LAFC. So, maybe we pick up 1 or 2 points if we're lucky. 3 if I'm being really optimistic. That keeps us stuck at the bottom for the foreseeable future I'm afraid.
Completely disagree about being slow to react this season. Hernan was not available earlier. Quakes were patient and waited for the right piece rather than settling for Vela.
Quakes were robbed by the refs from a win in Portland a few weeks ago, and they've won many times in New Jersey over teams pretending to be NY.
