Surprised it took this long. I guess they gave up trying to get anything of value out of him.

Not an MLS rumor but wish an MLS team made a move for him. Will probably be a DP and if so only a handful of teams have open spots. Minnesota moving on from Reynoso, Montreal has 2 DP spots open, Vancouver and NYRB have 1 DP spot open and might be missing some others that can buy down current DPs.

He needs to go to a team that plays a low block and likes defenders who can pass well. Does that ring any bells?

If a team has a young promising defender who needs mentoring, that would make it a good fit too.

So, mid-August if I’ve got my DC United front office can’t-get-a-guy-a-work-permit-in-a-timely-manner timeline right.

    Thx,

    Jay

I’m not certain how many teams have this, but I know that RSL finally hired someone whose main responsibility is to help shepherd players through the work permit and green card process.

That seems like too much money for a 25 year old playing for Billy Bragg’s uncle’s club.*

But in all seriousness, if DC spent that much on a player from the Serbian league, I’d be concerned.

Chicago offering $10m+ for a player who was available on a free a few months later seems very Chicago.

    I misread fee as free.

To be fair, it is Red Star and they command a good fee for players. This year Zenit paid 8 million for a 22 y/o defender, NYCFC paid 8 for an 18 y/o forward, and Villa paid 7.6 for an 18 y/o right back. But, yeah, I think that would be the highest fee for a player over 23 out of the Serbian League so fair to question it. Guess it will be a good barometer for their new sporting director since this is their first real swing at a player from him.

Bogert was wistfully talking about Atlanta with no actual sources behind it. However, if he isn't going to jet off to a Saudi club for a metric f**k ton of money, then Atlanta is a good shout. Giakoumakis wants a raise and Cruz Azul is sniffing around trying to buy him. Flip him for double what you paid and grab a (most likely) much better forward that is less than a year older.

With Hellas Verona avoiding relegation that should mean that Swiderski is transferring there permanently. It was reported they had a mandatory purchase clause in there if they avoided relegation. Means that Charlotte would be down to 1 DP with them moving on from Copetti.

Charlotte could make some noise in the East if they can hit it out of the park with the new offensive DP's since it looks like their defense is pretty stout.
