Crazy thing is that he has actually been playing the same system all season (high-press, high-line, 4-3-3) - even when injuries to players meant he should probably have reverted to a different one.

That would actually be a more valid criticism.

The no system line is just lazy and ill-informed. He has a system that some players (especially the injury replacements in our weak depth) struggle to play.

He has also played a variation in some games such as today. Suits some peoples narrative to overlook that I guess ;)

So correct me if I'm wrong but you now join The Europa and Chelsea are relegated to The Conference...yes? It's all changed so much it confuses me.

He has to double down. He’s painted himself in a corner and has nowhere else to go. It’s not even stubbornness, he’s just overrun with stupidity.

Chelsea go to conference league and Newcastle are out of Europe. We go straight into Europa League.

It's way to early to say ANYTHING about next season right now. We have far, far too many question marks.

He won FA Cup by using mourinho football and mourinho tactic

It's a myth that his style is outdated , if all the EPL team are using the same style , pep would have been sacked already by city because there is no chance in hell he won 4 EPL

we should have sack ten hag and hired mourinho
It won't be the first time we sack a dutch manager for mourinho anyway

you've done this a few times now, but other than sassiness do you have an actual counter argument to offer?

EtH has said on interviews he has tried to stick with his system rather than abandon it due to injuries. So what you see are players incapable of playing his system trying to play his system. He believes in high press, mid to high line with a single pivot. In attack he like a 3-1-6 shape with one of the full backs tucking in to form the 3rd CB and one being a DM. He likes the 8 close to the top of the box, he lets Bruno play a free role as 10. One winger has a FB for overlaps while the other will often have the 8 or 10 overlap.

How many more times does everyone want to have this roundabout discussion? The one thing I agree with Chaz on is there’s no point in talking about it further. We should have an answer from the club within a week.

In the end I think it comes down to whether you believe injuries derailed this season or you think he should’ve gotten more out of the squad regardless of the injuries. Should he have been more pragmatic at the expense of losing development time towards how we want to play? Can’t answer that. But it’s a decision we’ve beaten into the ground.

    so no then?

no one asked about his opinion. you don't have to offer yours. it's fine.

i just find it interesting you want to shit on the opinions of others while putting forth none of your own

Whitwell and Ornstein are saying it's false that EtH is definitely gone. He believes that the briefings are coming from other manager agents because we are sounding out other managers and speaking to their reps.

But, we're only doing it as due diligence and have been doing it for several weeks now.

Formally, we have not decided and won't be making any decisions for at least a week.

The briefings were an attempt by other agencies to rock our squad before such a big game, to increase the chances we'd lose. This does kind of make sense from their perspective.

This all seems like the most believable scenario to me. Whitwell is probably as connected as anyone.

Why say the same thing twice? Want me to just cpy/paste his response? Would that suffice?

EtH has said on interviews he has tried to stick with his system rather than abandon it due to injuries. So what you see are players incapable of playing his system trying to play his system. He believes in high press, mid to high line with a single pivot. In attack he like a 3-1-6 shape with one of the full backs tucking in to form the 3rd CB and one being a DM. He likes the 8 close to the top of the box, he lets Bruno play a free role as 10. One winger has a FB for overlaps while the other will often have the 8 or 10 overlap.

    Happy now?

Regardless, the obvious fact staring everyone in the face are the injuries and lack of players who can play the above mentioned style. Expecting beautiful, attacking football with players like AWB, McShit, etc is absolute lunacy - holding that against EtH is also lunacy.

    A few EtH related stats;

    - first United manager since Alex Ferguson to win back-to-back trophies

    - first manager to beat Pep in an English cup final (in doing so ending their 35 game unbeaten run in all comps and Rodri 74 game unbeaten run)

    - we have won 5 trophies since SAF left, 2 of the 5 being under Erik in the last two years

    - in getting our first FA Cup win in 8 years he beat both our main rivals Liverpool and Man City and in doing so prevented both from getting doubles this season

    - somehow also managed to p1ss off our other rivals Chelsea, Newcastle, Arsenal by bumping them from Europa League, European competition at all and Community Shield respectively :)

    - first time two teenagers have scored in an FA Cup final, Mainoo and Garnacho became the first teenagers to score in an FA Cup Final since Ronaldo in 2004, Mainoo youngest to score since 1964

    Keep him.

Maybe I'm naive. Maybe this is an emotional response to thr FA Cup. Whatever.

Buy the right profile and see it thru.

As a fan, I should not care about funds, but clearly it's an issue. Paying him out.

Tuchel is cool, but not a manager thats "can't miss".

If there was an outstanding manager available, I'd probably think a little more.

Maybe you could persuade Ancelotti to leave Real. I think he'd be a good fit for you.

One way or another, they need to make a decision quick re: EtH, IMO, so everyone can start moving towards next season or Erik can clear out his desk for Gareth Southgate.

Well for me, Id prefer another manager. I think Ancelotti is one of the best of all time. I just think where we are, we need a different profile.

What are the odds the source of this report from MEN is McKenna? I'd say good, very good.
