With the very high likelihood of 3 players of Balerdi, Barco and Carboni being dropped from the squad of 29, this will probably be Scaloni's lineup

Main Lineup (Similar to the lineup vs Poland in WC22)
    —-------Alvarez (24)
    -------------------------Messi (37)-------------Di Maria (36)
    --------------MacA (25)------------De Paul (30)
    ----------------------------Enzo (23)
    Tagliafico (31)—Otamendi (35)—Romero (26)—Molina (26)
    ---------------------------Dibu (31)

    Back up
    —------------------------Martinez (26)
    Nico (26)-------------------------------------------Garnacho (20)
    —------Lo Celso (28)-------------Palacios (26)
    --------------------------Paredes (30)
    Acuna (32)—Licha (26)—Pezzella (33)—Montiel (27)
    ---------------------------Rulli (32)

    (Quarta 28, Guido 30, A. Correa 29)

A very strong squad still even without Dybala and imo stronger than the WC 22 squad and much more stronger than the Copa 21 squad.

Can't wait for the start of the Copa.

Would start lautaro over Alvarez and Paredes over Enzo based on current form

Balerdi is not being dropped. Substitutes of in form, high quality defenders off the bench are high prority for the squad. He will be there to cover and in case of injuries.

I'm hoping Balerdi will be taken ahead of Quarta, but Quarta's versatility to also play at RB will be the decisive factor for Scaloni imo.

    What's worst than Pezzella ?

    Pezzella in his mid 30s.

Good personal season from Garnacho. Still ways to go but he improved his close dribbling.

The ability to play both LW and RW will provide a tactical solution for the manager.

My prediction is that he will be in the starting XI sometimes during the Copa America for Argentina, similar to Enzo in the World Cup

I believe Garnacho still far from his peak, but he has that zero fear attitude regardless the match occassion ,much like Dybala. Also, he could have try to earn foul before scoring that goal (like his idol) but he maintained his balance instead.

You're probably right, perhaps this Copa would be the moment where Scaloni finally decided to intregate him to the main squad, which is why he drops Dybala. We basically only has two proper strikers , Lautaro and Julian.

I hope Dimaria plays on the right like he does in Benfica and Garnacho goes on the left wing. That would change our dynamics so much. Scaloni tried that in the Costa Rica game I believe and I really liked what I saw.

Nico Gonzales was useless today in a final. Why is this guy being called up?

Fiornetina coach is a joke, he subbed in Beltran in the 2nd half extra time. Instead of just playing Beltran and Nico together. The most boring game I've seen this year.

I like A.Correa aswell, but everytime he did get a call up, he's merely a bench decoration. Its not gonna be any different this time.

This is a real possibility because we see Messi exclusively playing in the middle these days. Scaloni already had Di Maria wide right for much of the World Cup.

Don't forget Scaloni's brilliance in the Final to move Di Maria left! Incredible tactic looking back. Of course, hindsight is 20/20!

That's what probably is going to be the starting XI. Later on Di Maria, Alvarez, Palacios, Lo Celso will be subbed in I presume.

Against Australia, Lautaro could’ve easily scored 3 goals and we would win 5-0.

Against Netherlands, a chance for Mac Allister on the break could’ve been 3-0, then in extra time, 2 great chances from Enzo and Lautaro to make it 4-2. But I think if Pezzella didn’t come on and we didn’t choose to fully park the bus, that game finishes at least 2-0. Up until the 89th minute it was a perfect game.

Against France, Lautaro could have scored 5 goals in extra-time alone.

It’s easy for people to brush away those moments by saying “every team misses chances” but I think there’s a difference between the way Argentina played compared to the opponents.

On top of the goals, Argentina had least 3 big chances in every KO game that they didn’t score, whereas the opposition at most got 2.

Against Netherlands, the Berghuis chance, France was the Kolo-Muani and Rabiot chance, and Australia, the Kuol chance.

It’s easy for casuals to look at the scoreline and say “well they didn’t play in any game.” But you look at the chances that were created, a lot of them were very well worked.

I would go with Alvarez instead of Lautaro for that game, because we need a bit of pace in that game, Canada likes to press really high so we need a bit of pace to exploit all the space they give us.

Maybe Lautaro can still play cuz he plays passes from behind really well, and Alvarez would start on the left.

And in that game, I would play Licha > Otamendi for sure but Scaloni may not trust that he’s played enough games.

I understand that, and those guys are very important especially for the games against big teams like Netherlands, Croatia & France who have different strengths and weaknesses that can be exploited.

But against weaker teams that just park the bus, that's when you need players like Dybala to break down low-blocks, cuz we don't really have the ability to capitalize off crosses. You need the players who can dribble in-tight and pull defences out of position.

That's why to see that all of Soule, Echeverri and Dybala were omitted, I'm not really sure what the plan is because yeah, we have a pretty easy bracket until the semi-finals against Ecuador, but I think people are going to be disappointed by the lacklustre performances when guys like Nico & Garnacho can't penetrate low blocks.

Dude, its Canada. Lautaro scored and assisted against Italy in Finalissima. He run from midfield , beat the defence and laid it for Di Maria. He also scored in qualifier against Uruguay, Chile, Colombia , Ecuador etc. Lets not forget, Lautaro also directly involved in Messi second goal in World cup final. Basically an indirect assist. He knows how to play short passing game. We dont need to rely on dribbles.

...or do you really rate Canada as high as France ?

Canada does have a couple really top class players. We should handle our business if we are locked in and win this by multiple goals. But I do not think we should underestimate anybody. We kinda did that in the last tournament we played but it did work out for us, even though, our blood pressure hovered around 175/99 throughout Qatar 22.

Speaking of blood preasure, its always been like that everytime Argentina plays in WC. The third group game whenever we won the first 2 games would be an exception. Other than that , I dont think I ever feel relax in WC game no matter who we play against.

I think one of Scaloni main plan has always been having an entire team that could run alot covering spaces so Messi can focus on delivering his magical pass and shot. Hence he always like having Nico even though he never have the end product as a striker. In WC we've seen Julian doing the dirty work while also playing a our main forward.

Maybe, just maybe, we won’t be losing our minds for these games as much since we’ve won everything. But there is pressure to defend our crown. We cannot let anybody take this away from us. I know the PR will be pushing for that little bitch Vinicius but we cannot give them any satisfaction.

Nevertheless, I just hope I can enjoy the games without screaming at my television 3 minutes in. I know that simply not healthy. We all lost years off our lives from Qatar.

The Euros I can enjoy since I do not have much of a horse in the race. But I do enjoy the Lulz when England fall on their faces.

Canada has a new coach in Jesse Marsch too. Not that we're familiar with them at all to begin with but it means we won't have much film to see what we're going to be up against. He did pull off a couple big upsets for Leeds in his brief time with them, though, thanks to a really aggressive pressing scheme he picked up in his time in the Red Bull system in Europe.
