So do I, and I say that as one of the biggest Shaqiri fans here.

I am pretty sure that's illegal, but we got away with it.

Pete (was watching the referee closely and he appears to have failed to notice it)

Said that right after he arrived and nothing since has changed my mind.

Yeah I got nothing against the dude other than he wasn't what the Fire needed and couldn't deliver in a game changing way consistently. He needs to be surrounded by better talent. Was not a difference maker for the Fire very often.

I tend to be a lot more loyal to our lads than a lot of you guys.

Pete (unfortunately ends up in the same place, just later)

Shaqiri won't be the first player that thrives in a supporting role but doesn't have what it takes to be the focal player of a team.

    Pete (thinks that's exceedingly common)

Very nearly the best play of the year so far.

Pete (almost rose off the couch, but not quite)

Would like to see Gaston for Fede and maybe Herbers for Barlow…

Cuypers wins a foul for leaning into a defender, but if he pivots and chases the ball, he's got nothing but a keeper in front of him.

Pete (suspects the defenders catch up to him, but still thinks that's a missed opportunity)

Gutman seems to give the ball away 2/3 of the time he tries it...

...but at least he consistently tries to serve the ball into the box.

Pete (thinks we need more of that)

Would like to see MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better players on for Navarro and Barlow than Gaston and Herbers.
I would be happy not to see any of the four on the field for the Fire.

    Herbers and Dean on for
    Acosta and Arigoni.

That'll guarantee a result in this match.

Not a fan of Acosta leaving as he's FINALLY looked decent. Maybe it's a minutes thing but why stop a guy looking decent when it's been SO long?

I know and I stand by what I wrote.

For tonight, I would put in MHS and Koutsias for Navarro and Barlow.
I know it would be crazy to actually go for the win.

I can't argue with taking out a yellow card, and I'm curious to see how Dean and Gutman play together on opposite sides.

Pete (likes that Dean actually centers the ball too)

    Is MHS healthy again?

Pete (would have started him if he was)

Announcers continue to give Gutman the lions share of credit on these plays, but it’s been Guti that’s breaking those plays open

    WTF Barlow? Oy!
Anibaba, a winger defender, praising the winger defender!

    He's on the bench tonight.

He is one of TWO attacking options, along with Koutsias, hence my suggestion to put them on for Navarro and Barlow.

I'm not sure what Klopas is gaining with MHS and Gimenez on the bench.

Pete (thinks those guys have to start)
