First time for the Rapids to experience a short turnaround this season. Fortunately the Rapids are at home while the Whitecaps are on the road for the second straight match and coming off a 0-3 loss at LAFC. Of course the Rapids too are coming off a loss. However, it seems that this season they recover well from a loss and play a solid match next time out. Both sides are sitting on 18 points with Vancouver playing one less match. If you're attending this match don't forget there's a drone match post game.
1-1 draw, goal by Bassett. If you subtract the disastrous first half on Portland then Vancouver and Colorado are very similar. Just about an equal number of goals scored and allowed per game, though Vancouver has the same number of points as the Rapids with a game in hand. With the busy week I think a draw here is likely. https://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2024/05/wet-matchup-on-likely-wet-night.html
Def curious to see the team's attitude after the mess of last Saturday. Hope they come out angry with something to prove

I think tonight is a statement game for the Rapids, for good or for bad. I know, I know, we have the RMC match on Saturday - but the loss to SJ was a huge blow to the mentality of the team. Rosenberry said it himself, after 3 goals called off, they simply couldn’t recover mentally. Which is something we hadn’t seen yet this season. If the Rapids come out tonight, play hard against a top contender in the West and make a game out of it tonight, I think we can keep our hope train running. But if we come out and get worked again, then it may be an indication of things to come. Either way, either we show we “got that dawg in us” tonight or we show our tail stuck between our legs. Here’s hoping for the former
I'm hoping they come out pissed and get a good result. If there were ever a game to do it, this is it.
I can’t make it, I wish I could. I hope the crowd not too flat and small. Looking forward to watching on tv, slightly delayed.
I’ll predict a 1-1 tie, Navarro scoring. After Saturday, I’m assuming they will give a huge defensive effort. As stated above, they could really use a result.
It's by the book: "Sending-off offences A player, substitute or substituted player who commits any of the following offences is sent off: denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by a handball offence (except a goalkeeper within their penalty area)"
Then it needs revision, the hand wasn't wildly out there imo and wasn't intentional. I suppose it makes it easier for a ref to avoid interpretation, but that is why they have help of VAR. Anyway, I'm happy about the rule for now...till we are on the other end of it haha
Yeah, but the fundamental rule of soccer is you can't use your hands. If you're going to red card something other than violent conduct, you'd think it would be blocking an obvious goal with your hand.
Watched the match this morning…. Ugly, sloppy, and just yucky but….. it was a HUGE three points. I don’t care how those points are earned. We have surpassed expectations and I’m genuinely happy. I’ll take it. I have certain way I prefer the boys play but at the end of the day the job is getting done. I can’t complain.

Watched in person. The Rapids struggled to break down compressed lines of Vancouver (sound familiar?) for much of the first half. Lot's of passes were picked off by the Whitecaps as the 'Pids just didn't seem to be in sync and were dependent on long balls as breaking Vancouver's lines was not happening. It was so different from the first half of the SJ match. Can't comment on the PK and straight red near the end of the half as in real time from our seats it looked like a deflection of a sure goal resulting in a corner kick. The second half was nerve racking as the Rapids just couldn't score an insurance goal while Vancouver was just one goal away from earning a point. And it certainly wasn't confidence inspiring.
The review of the handball against Vancouver has been posted by PRO, its the first one in the weekly video recap. As you expect based on the incident it was found to be completely correct: Here's the writeup from the written review: https://proreferees.com/2024/05/25/2024-the-definitive-angle-mls-week-14/
